It’s been a bumpy journey but we’re reaching the end of Series 11 aka the first of the Chibnall and Whitaker era. I think there have been no press copies handed out so hopefully we’re in for some BIG reveals, and not the return of Tim Shaw x

One things for certain, it’s not a catchy title...

I feel like I’ve seen this episode before tbh based on the synopsis
Really excited for this episode, hoping it delivers the goods. Like Klaus, I'm hoping for some big moments/reveals and not Tim Shaw returning being the reason they've not shared it. :kink:
Not a bad episode but it really did not have the ‘finale’ feel to it. i suppose that is how the classic series’ used to end without a cliffhanger or any uncertainty. Loved the brief references to Boom Town and Journey’s End during that TARDIS scene. The NYD episode looks epic though *.*

That was an action pack episode, without a cliffhanger, for me that was quite a good episode, the only thing I missed we haven't seen our regular foes this season, Daleks, Cybermen etc etc. Not sure if that's good thing, but they were the main villains from most of the old and past series.

The new year's day episode looks pretty good, judging by that little clip, but something tells me, an old foe is returning, it has been given a title of Resolution (btw I found that on google), which could evolve around a certain foe :D

On reflection the series has been rather good, the odd damp squib episode, and to my favourite episode of the series Rosa, without a doubt, the stand out episode of the whole series.

LOVED that episode!

I was skeptical given the rumours I'd seen about Tim Shaw returning (even if it was inevitable), but I actually thought he served very well as a villain in this story. Definitely the action-packed story we needed this series to have. I thought the Ux were a nice addition too. Chibnall definitely saved his best for last, considering what we've had anyway.

The NYD special looks incredible! *.* Cannot wait for it and it HAS to be leading up to

a Dalek return

given the nature of the trailer?

I tried my best not to mention that word :(

It was decent overall, and probably amongst one of Chibnall's best episodes. I liked the scope of it and it did feel like a proper alien adventure with no hidden subtexts which is always nice to see. Again, it was stopped from being great primarily because the resolution was so rushed - Tim Shaw is just not a strong villain and this didn't convince me otherwise, he was dispatched far too quickly, he literally stopped that planet takeover thing and went to confront Ryan and Graham without a weapon, why were we scared of him again? Again suffered from the peril turning around too quickly, a recurring problem this series and one which I hope they resolve by getting some more two parters and connected storylines next season, it's made me realise how little dread there is at all when everything's essentially just reset by the end of the episode.

This season has certainly had issues, a lack of proper highlights and some changes are still sinking in, but it did start to win me back over by the end and certainly showed glimmers of promise. I'd put it on par with the last season overall, that was of a similar standard.

And YES the New Years special surely cannot be anything other than the D word? :o Bear in mind, earlier in the series, the PTANG was marketed as one of the most destructive things in the universe so let's not hold our breath :kink:

Deadliest species is definitely the pting x

If Tim Shaw can return, so can that... or the sentitent universe talking frog

I swear the "next time"'s just get shorter and shorter each episode

Looking forward to New Years Day, especially if it's the return of the Daleks. I kind of just want to see how they react to a female Doctor tbh hopefully parodying what happened when it was revealed Jodie would be #13 to the GP

Let's hope the "next times" continue to get shorter until they vanish altogether.

A parody of the Daily Mail-type reaction to a female Doctor would be great

If I didn't know better I'd swear you were calling for the show to be cancelled here

Far from it. Without the pointless trailer for the next episode, they'd have more time for the actual programme.

To be fair, the next time trailers in series 11 were roughly 5-10 seconds max, so I don't think that subtracted anything at all from the episodes bar potentially a mere glance from one character to another or panning a landscape.

There needs to be some element of wanting to tease what your next instalment is offering for new viewers / something to excite fans.
