Posted December 22, 20186 yr V2 : YTD Sales : Please read these guidelines before you request sales estimates, it makes my task a lot easier. 1. Be specific - please name the artist and title for each entry you'd like an estimate for. 2. I log sales for all albums that have charted this year, but only update those that have sold enough to reach my 200 position tracking range 3. If an album isn't in the current Top 100, I won't be able to update its sales until Tues. Also, please don't ask about ex-T100 albums too often - once a month at most) 4. Remember to check the thread before requesting estimates - they may already have been answered. Also, no more than half-a-dozen requests at a time, thanks. 5. Please note my figures are combined sales & streams, and since I have no way of separating them, I cannot provide a split. 6. While I am no longer estimating singles sales, I can provide YTD singles positions from C+, and I am still maintaining my sales archive based on published figures (PM me if you want to see it) Thank you. December 23, 20186 yr George only managed one week at the top and yet is streets ahead of the (solo artists) competition
December 23, 20186 yr George only managed one week at the top and yet is streets ahead of the (solo artists) competition I know Shotgun kept the album in the top 5 most of the year and also the albums fairly brillant which helps!
December 23, 20186 yr Yes ASIB #7 on YE chart almost confirmed, what a smash! (although Bublé can come close..) Edited December 23, 20186 yr by SKOB
December 23, 20186 yr It really has been the year of the soundtrack. Ed aside though only George has done enough to go platinum this year artist wise is fairly poor
December 23, 20186 yr Yes I touched on this a few months back that the last time Soundtracks dominated was in the late 50s early 60s before the albums market was that big eg Stranger to the Shore being the biggest seller across I think 2 years in 1962 and we may be going back to that era now as artist albums are being consumed differently through streaming etc! Then a group named The Beatles changed all that..
December 23, 20186 yr Well they are keeping the albums market afloat lol but it'll be interesting to see how well their next releases do as Adeles last album was when there wasn't as much streaming dominance. There'll be other artists building to their type of hugeness in the coming years no doubt!
December 23, 20186 yr With the coming week sales added odyssey by take that should overtake wonderland.

December 24, 20186 yr I know album sales have generally declined in recent years but artists like Adele, Ed Sheeran and the Greatest Showman album can still shift in big numbers. Obviously there are far less big sellers but is that also a reflection of a lack of strong releases? I think this year has been one of the worst years in terms of new albums I’ve bought. Very little has interested me!
December 24, 20186 yr I think there's been some fantastic albums this year - let's eat grandma, first aid kit, Kylie Minogue, Courtney Barnett, Kacey Musgraves, Robyn.....there's a lot of stuff I'll be listening too in years to come. Clearly the industry has some issues in getting people to buy physical products and I'm not sure how that will be overcome. Same with Dvds- I'm about to chuck most of mine out.
December 24, 20186 yr I agree Kylie is a great album but in the last five years I’ve become a lot less interested in the charts and music. I watch TOTP from 1980s and there is so many great tracks out but now I’m lucky to like 3-4 singles in the T40. Maybe it’s a sign of getting older but I generally feel music isn’t as good as it used to be!
