feeling a bit sorry about Leclerc

I still fear there's a bit of Jean Alesi about him -

One of the best drivers of his generation, with a bold, exciting style who impresses in a lower tier team and joins Ferrari as they enter a long slow decline. Frequently out performs his more experienced team mate but never catches a break through a number of different circumstances whether it be reliability or team errors. Becomes one of the Tifosi's most loved drivers and one of the sports unluckiest.

I hope this never comes to pass though. He deserves better

Hopefully the F1 race can at least be half as good as yesterday's FE race. Like I said, you just never know.

An all round decent enough race I feel. Leclerc added some early excitement and Hamilton drove well in the end. Would have been good if Verstappen and Vettel could have provided more of an actual rather than imagined threat more often.

Good warm up for the Indy 500

wow, I didn't see that, that was crazy
Definitely the second most interesting/entertaining race this year so far (after Bahrain) and it was all down to Ferrari's ineptitude in quali! Shame leclerc went out, he was going for some ballsy moves. I never felt like max was gonna pull off a move at the end but at any given moment Lewis could easily have clipped the wall on his worn tyres so it was thrilling right till the end.

The penalty for Verstappen for a unsafe release. Surely it should be the team penalised, e.g give them a fine.
The penalty for Verstappen for a unsafe release. Surely it should be the team penalised, e.g give them a fine.

This was exactly the discussion we had in my house during the race. The driver should not be penalised and a fine for the team is pointless. A points deduction for the constructor is the only reasonable option we could come up with

It is harsh on the driver but it's the only viable option really. The penalty did directly cost the team because they didn't have any representation on the podium which they otherwise would have done, so they would have been hurting just as much as Max personally. "Win together & lose together" is the phrase Hamilton always uses.

I would be against a constructor's deduction personally as my OCD would freak out at the maths not equalling between the 2 tables.

However Max getting penalty points on his license is completely ridiculous, that should only be reserved for driver errors.

For everybody’s sake in Canada, let’s get a Max or Leclerc or even a Vettel win here.

This season has been pretty boring thus far, but you can ALWAYS count on Canada. What a beauty of a Grand Prix.

Renault 4th and 7th!!!! AND all 4 Renault power units in the top 10 on one of the most power dependent circuits of the year! :w00t: Praise jesus our engine has finally got to the party

Well it's only taken 7 attempts but we might finally have an interesting race

Hope this actually turns out an exciting race with all the anticipation built up - Vettel & Hamilton front-row, Ricciardo fourth, Bottas sixth, Verstappen ninth. Question mark - or rather an «extra» question mark, over the tires.

Please let’s have some battles and a shaking up-safety car.

Kubica 66 seconds behind a rookie.

Blame the hybrid era for Canada being so boring.

FIA has been fully team Mercedes/Hamilton for some time now.

Absolute shocker of a decision. Truly truly shocking.

Renault having an excellent day. 6th and 7th with Hülkie nursing a gearbox issue
