36. M|A|R|R|S - Pump Up The Volume/Anitina (The First Time I See She Dance) 133 pts

Writers - Martyn Young,Steve Young

Top points - AH Gold 24,PeteFromLeeds 22,ImTheLime 14

This scores the same amount of points as 'Are Friends Electric?' but wins a tie-break by 13 votes to 12,not that it really matters. MARRS was a collaboration between the group Colourbox and the duo A.R.Kane. The various versions of 'Pump Up The Volume' contain samples from 29 records including 'Roadblock' by Stock Aitken Waterman who obtained an injunction which held up distribrution for a few days. I don't remember the other A side 'Anitina' being played on the radio much but I have just listened to it. It's quite different and doesn't appear to contain any samples.

I wonder if any good song will go through.

Our shared top vote (Animals by Martin Garrix) is still in... fingers crossed!

I don't think it will qualify.

So, just give the crown for the thousands of Abba's and Madonna's songs voted. I'm sorry, but I'm not a fan of both.

And talking of Australia, this is probably their best known song. It was no.1 there in 1981 but wasn't an international hit until 1983. Men At Work were the first Australian act to be no.1 on the singles and albums charts both in the UK and the US at the same time. They had three other top hits here, the best of which is 'Overkill' which I prefer to 'Down Under'.

Very disappointing that 'Are 'Friends' Electric?' has finished below 'Freak Like Me' but I guess we should have seen it coming.

I absolutely love both tracks but I must admit that I prefer to listen to Freak Like Me, it's the perfect mash up song in my eyes. Soooooo good.

This is a big shock as 'Knowing Me Knowing You' finished in 8th place in the first round and yet with the qualifiers split across four semis it can only finish 32nd in its semi-final. The five people who voted for it in the first round all gave it big scores and I don't think they all voted this time and it doesn't seem to be liked enough by everyone else. Abba's fifth number 1,it spent five weeks there in 1977.

Written by the Bee Gees, who also sang backing vocals, this was Diana's second solo number 1,15 years after her first one,'I'm Still Waiting' (1971).

Knowing Me Knowing You is just meh but I like Chain Reaction.

A song that increased in popularity after being sung in the TV series 'Glee' and then featuring in a commercial aired during the Super Bowl. Over here,it was no.1 for just one week. Fun's next three singles charted at 7,126 and 169. For me,it's one of the best no.1s from the current decade.

An unlikely number 1 from 1988,this spent three weeks at the top of the chart. Enya returned to no.1 sixteen years later as a featured singer on 'I Don't Wanna Know' by Mario Winans.

28. Martin Garrix - Animals 159 pts

Writer - Martijn Garritsen

Top points - Jason 25,coi 25,danG 23

Martin was only 17 when this reached number 1,making him the second youngest person to enter at no.1 with their debut single (second to Billie Piper). 'Animals' is one of four chart toppers with a title which is also the name of a group who have also got to no.1. The others are 'The Real Thing' by Tony Di Bart,'Survivor' by Destiny's Child and 'Wings' by Little Mix.

Thankfully "Havana", "Party Rock Anthem" and "Animals" didn't qualified in the final.

Shocked by painful result of ABBA classic. Surprisingly high position for "Orinoco Flow".

Please give us "I Feel Love" and "Dreamer" on the next two places. :)
