37. Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Two Tribes 140 pts

Writers - Peter Gill,Holly Johnson,Mark O'Toole

Top points - King Rollo 25,Uls2000 24,Dircadirca 18

The longest running no.1 from the 80s,spending nine weeks there, helped by several different mixes of the song being released every few weeks on either 7" or 12". Frankie were so dominant over the summer of 1984 that their previous no.1 'Relax' went back up the chart to no.2.

Two Tribes out already?! :o That's a bit disappointing!
Yes,Buzzjack prefers 'Relax' which qualified easily in Semi 1. Two Tribes would certainly be my favourite out of the two.

In fairness I do prefer Relax but they are both great!

36. Abba - Fernando 145 pts

Writers - Benny Andersson,Bjorn Ulvaeus

Abba's best selling single worldwide and number 30 on the all time list. I didn't know that 'Fernando' was originally recorded by Frida and released on her solo album the year before. I've just listened to it,the musical arrangement is practically identical, the only difference is that she sings it in Swedish.

From 2006,this broke the record for the lowest weekly sales for a no.1 single, just 17694,a record it held until One Dance by Drake sold a lower amount in its ninth week at number 1 in 2016. Bearing in mind streaming was an option by that time, this could be viewed as the most unpopular no.1 ever so it's done well to finish as high as 34th here. Orson had three more top 40 hits before splitting up in 2007.

Easy Lover is one of my all time faves from the 80s. Amazing song.

LOVE No Tomorrow as well, what a record for that song to have had tho!

This was the 600th no.1 single, spending five weeks at the top of the chart in 1987. It had the same number of points and votes as 'No Tomorrow' but wins the tie-break as two people gave it 24 points.

I'm surprised China In Your Hand didn't go through. :o

32. Lilly Wood & The Prick and Robin Schulz - Prayer In C (Robin Schulz Remix) 153 pts

Writers - Benjamin Cotto,Nili Hadida

Top points - coi 25,jimwatts 22.Jason 21

The original version of 'Prayer In C' was released in 2010 with this remix reaching number 1 four years later. This is the third song to score 153 points but it received one more vote than the other two.

Prayer In C is one of those songs I spammed loads at the time but barely ever return to now, it's quite forgettable.
Poor Lilly Wood & The Prick and Robin Schulz. Shame Buzzjack don't have too many dance fans. Another great dance track not going through and I'm guessing One Kiss will have the same destiny.

From 1999,this was one of eleven top 5 hits for the Backstreet Boys but their only no.1.

I loved Prayer In C loads at the time, even before it was properly released in the UK. It's a shame that it's being left behind now despite being quite a big hit, you don't hear it much anymore. I still revisit it sometimes.
