Incredible that this has managed to enter at #6 on opening week considering their last UK chart entry was in 2009 and they hardly have a stellar chart history (13, 30, 57, 92, 56).

Hoping that this is the beginning of a huge era for them - also loving the fact that pop seems to be on the comeback (Ava Max, Jonas Brothers, Sigrid etc.,)

Certainly wasn't expecting this to be a UK Top10 hit for them. This sounding great from them.
I'm very confused about how well this has done - I'm not a fan at all (it just sounds like another DNCE song, not as annoying as 'Cake By The Ocean' but still just bland) but even aside from that where exactly has this sudden demand for new Jonas Brothers music come from? They were never THAT big to begin with, their highest charting song in the US before this was only #5. Odd.

In WHAT WORLD would Sucker sound so similar to Feel It Still that it would be considered plagiarism?

Nostalgia, mainly. Firstly, it’s been 10 years since their last BBH100 top 10 (Tonight, which peaked at #8). Secondly, it has the typical formula for a pop crossover hit, and what their expected demographic would have been are the people who grew up with them. And they haven’t been omnipresent in the charts unlike the other Disney Channel alums from what I’d consider the network’s “golden age” of actor-performers. Selena has two huge hits over the past few months and possibly a third on the way, Demi had Solo become huge, and Miley had NBLAH weeks ago. We haven’t seen a Jo Bro on the charts since... Close, I think? It’s like when Riverdale first started and people knew about the show because it was Cole Sprouse’s first acting gig since Suite Life On Deck ended. Or when people freaked out when Zac Efron signed for another musical (The Greatest Showman). They grew up, but so did their initial audience.

(aside: I’m shocked that Cake By The Ocean only scraped the top 10 on the Hot 100. It felt much more massive than that.)

I'm Actually surprised it's not doing better in the UK, it's like tailor-made for the UK market, where pure pop always does better than in the US

And now it has gone Top 5 for them. Certainly would have got high prices I think if you had a flutter on Jonas Brother getting a UK Top 5 hit this year.
