Well done lewis a great rise to the top for him since Xmas - still think it would hugely blow up if he performed it live somewhere!!

 

What a great top 3 from 1999 - 3 classic songs from 3 huge artists and each one easily surpassing 150k sales in a week!

The track deserves number 1 but his voice is so yucky! Still the best new number 1 of the year tbf. Ariana has felt like autopilot. Calvin next week please

Aww, I was hoping Calvin would hold on to this one but I won't begrudge Lewis getting the #1, was rooting for him next week anyway! I'm curious now to see if 'Just You And I' can outpeak 'Leave A Light On', couldn't have imagined that happening even a month ago!

 

That 2009 chart was the very first chart show I listened to. It's been a fun 10 years. :D Also, I must echo the amazement at Whitney Houston's sales in 1999!

Was a great surprise to see Dave still just about making the top 40 after it looked from the mids like he'd miss out, this is a really great and powerful track from him. A bold choice for the lead single from his album, a shame it couldn't have been a bigger hit but ah well ~

 

I'm not a huge fan of 'Someone You Loved' (if anything it's been growing off me since I first heard it oops - but on the flipside, 'Grace' is proving to be a decent grower, now liking that one more out of the two) but can't begrudge it getting to #1, has felt like a very natural and organic rise to the top for him and you can tell it really means a lot to him. Poor Calvin possibly now being stuck with yet another near miss tho, his tally of #1s could be truly legendary if those 7 #2s had a little more luck! (But I guess he does have more #1s than #2s so can't complain too much :lol: plus 'Giant' could yet still rise to the top).

 

'break up with your girlfriend, i'm bored' already back ahead of '7 rings' is making me more salty at it not getting that 2nd week at #1 </3 quite a dramatic slump for Ari's album tracks this week it seems with those 2 both falling out of the top 2 and 'needy' / whatever her highest album track is now already falling to (what would be) outside the top 30 behind the numbers for 'thank u, next' on ACR!

 

I really quite like the new P!nk single, sooooo much better than her last lead single (sounds like it's a cover of a lost Mumford & Sons song but I like M&S so I'm not complaining), nice to see it giving her another top 10 and continuing her crazy career longevity deeper into the streaming era. Cool to see Tom Walker getting a second top 10 too, 'Just You And I' is continuing to grow on me, will be quite a feat if it goes on to outpeak 'Leave A Light On' now which it looks like it might well do!
