The album has responded well to promo, I know she us doing rehearsals and the tour will be on but she really needs to look for 1 or 2 TV slots a week. Surely this close to the tour everyone will be gagging to have her on, BBC Breakfast, Loose Women, This morning, she needs to do the rounds.

She's reduced the album to £5 on Amazon/Sainsburys hence why it's gone up.

What are the total sales for it?

It’s kind of inevitable that Emma will suffer big drops in the final chart, when numerous albums have much stronger streaming than her, and get 2 days worth of streaming added after the Thursday midweek data.

Emma went from 35 streaming sales in the Thursday mids, to 45 streaming sales in the Friday chart, so only 10 sales. Most of the albums around her had hundreds of streaming sales added.

The difference between the #129 album in the Friday chart (which was the position Emma was at in the Thursday midweeks) and Emma at #162, was just 121 sales. The difference between #93 and #162 is 381 sales. It’s barely anything, but results in a 69 place difference. She just can’t keep up when all the streaming is accounted for.

Official Charts Company decided to remove compilations such as The Greatest Showman, at the start of 2020. So if they'd decided that earlier, Emma would have been #10 <_<

Oh get lost no! That is SO annoying

Nice work Jay*

There's was not much streaming sales.

The Greatest Showman is a pile of crap and I hate it even more now!

I think she'd need to sell around 1,400 copies to stay Top 75 in week 2. Up to 1,200 copies for Top 100.

I really hope she stays Top 100. It's kind of sad that a second week Top 100 would be quite an achievement in this day and age lol. I miss when albums experienced more graceful falls in the charts (even This Time managed a second week Top 100...), but since streaming became popular it's led to some really harsh falls for albums reliant on pure sales.

Since 2005, the second week positions for solo albums have been...

24-53 - Beautiful Intentions (fell 29 places)

65-75 - Life in Mono (10 places)

57-97 - This Time (40 places)

45-101 - The Sea (56 places)

41-115 - Passion (74 places)

11-121 - My Happy Place (110 places)

25-146 - Version of Me (121 places)

Stages was out of the Top 200 in week 2, meaning it fell over 151 places, and of course L.A. State of Mind didn't even chart in week 1

Mod Edit: Above quote taken from Melanie C's chart topic, I thought it would be better for the Emma chat to continue in her chart topic instead, so I've moved the posts!

It's painful to see actually how successful LIM was and it was just abandoned. 2 singles and it sold 53k, they could have hit gold with 2 more and a small intimate tour. Emma had to go and get up the duff.

Interesting because I agree, but then I think Victoria Beckham was a complete flop which also had 2 singles and sold 53k... funny how we have different judgements for different things.

Kind of? Life in Mono was released at a time when sales were much down, whilst in 2001, album sales were much more healthy, so technically the bigger flop was Victoria's.

But yes, I do think it is a shame that both projects were abandoned as both had incredible potential but were let down by the release strategy...

That's not true, actually. Album sales in the UK in 2006 were still very, very high. Jay can confirm this. ;)

Yeah, album sales were still really high in 2006, actually a bit better than 2001!

Then in the third week it seems she might have managed to shift another 12,000 copies to be #79 (the #75 sold 12,645). Relative to sales nowadays, and relative to most other solo Spice albums, the Life in Mono sales look pretty good. But in the context of 2006 and the strength of the market, it didn't do very well (reflected by the fact it charted at #65).

Victoria's album entered at #10 with 16,500 sales on 7th October 2001, but in the equivalent week of 2006 (8th October 2006) the #10 sold 21,631; she wouldn't have made the Top 15 with 16.5k either.

I went to a dinner party last night . We got talking about the solo girls music. Yet Alexa couldn’t play anything by Emma apart form MHP material.

This is shocking !!

She is a victim of having 4 solo albums released by 3 different labels and the middle two were by 19 who evidently just don't give a toss about those albums being available to stream or buy anymore now

Just found out that Baby Please Don't Stop reached #111 in the Download Singles Top 200 (1st March 2019), then fell out the Top 200 a week later. Not sure if it ever re-entered after that. It wasn't in the chart up to and including 12th April, but I don't have the download charts from 19th April (which is the date My Happy Place entered the chart) up to 14th June to be able to check if it ever re-entered. If it was ever going to re-enter, it would have been on 19th April!
