Born in Scotland and raised in Manchester, England, Walker grew up listening to Ray Charles, the Police, and Bob Marley from his father's record collection, and taught himself how to play drums, guitar, piano, and bass. After studying songwriting at London's College of Contemporary Music, Walker began making music in earnest, collaborating with his housemates -- who included members of Whilk & Misky -- in their home studio. One of his songs, 2016's "Sun Goes Down," interpolated the '30s work song "I'll Be So Glad When the Sun Goes Down" and featured poet/musician Kojey Radical. The track earned acclaim and airplay on Radio 1, and Walker signed to Relentless soon after. His official debut single, "Fly Away with Me," arrived later that year. The Blessings EP was released in April 2017, along with a pair of singles, "Heartland" and "Leave a Light On." Walker started working with producer Mike Spencer on his debut album soon after, putting together 12 tracks of impeccably produced soulful, contemporary pop. Preceded by the singles "My Way" and "Angels," the album What a Time to Be Alive -- which took its title from the track "Blessings" -- was issued in late 2018. - iTunes _______________________________________________________________ Top 100 Chart History 2018 07 Leave A Light On -1- 2018 80 Walk Alone (Rudimental feat. In 2009, Harris released his second studio album Ready for the Weekend, which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and was later certified gold by the BPI. Its lead single "I'm Not Alone" became his first song to top the UK Singles Chart. Harris rose to international prominence with the release of his third studio album 18 Months in October 2012. Topping the UK charts, the album became his first to chart on the US Billboard 200 chart. All eight of the album's singles, including "Feel So Close", "Sweet Nothing" and "I Need Your Love" reached the top 10 in the UK. At the time, Harris broke the record for the most top 10 songs from one studio album on the UK Singles Chart with eight entries, surpassing Michael Jackson. Harris released his fourth studio album Motion in November 2014. It debuted at number two in the UK and at number five in the US and became Harris's second consecutive number one album on the US Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Harris has collaborated with numerous other recording artists. His collaboration with Rihanna "We Found Love" became an international success, giving Harris his first number one single on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. In October 2014, he became the first artist to place three songs simultaneously on the top 10 of Billboard's Dance/Electronic Songs chart. He also became the first British solo artist to reach more than one billion streams on Spotify. Harris has received ten Brit Award nominations—three for Best British Male and four Grammy nominations, winning a Grammy for Best Music Video in 2013. He received the British Academy's Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year in 2013 and at the 2015 Billboard Music Awards was named Top Dance/Electronic Artist. Harris runs his own record label, Fly Eye Records. - Wikipedia Rag'n'Bone Man Neo-blues & soul singer Rory Graham was born and raised in the small town of Uckfield in the southeast of England. Growing up on early blues and soul, he taught himself to sing by mimicking Muddy Waters, before discovering hip-hop. Starting out as an MC with a local drum'n'bass crew at age 15, he progressed to hip-hop open-mike nights in nearby Brighton, where he later moved, teaming up with local hip-hop crew the Rum Committee. At the same time, he continued to practice singing in private. At 19, he took part in a blues open-mike night at the encouragement of his father, and the rapturous response to his singing boosted his confidence enough to make him consider it as a career rather than rapping. Graham's Rag 'n' Bone Man moniker came from his childhood memories of sitting in front of the TV with his grandfather, watching repeats of the British '60s sitcom Steptoe and Son, about a pair of rag-and-bone men -- dirt-poor street collectors who in bygone days gathered up rubbish in an attempt to find useful rags, bones, and scrap metal that could be sold to merchants for a few pennies. With his massive bulk, tattoo-covered arms, nose ring, shaved head, enormous beard, and typical garb of hoodie and jeans, Graham looked like an escapee from an early-2000s nu-metal band, but he blew crowds away as soon as he opened his mouth with his deep, powerful, soulful, bluesy vocals. He released his debut EP, Bluestown, in 2012, followed by several EPs over the next few years, with 2014's Wolves and 2015's Disfigured standing out. Graham's early releases were more acoustic, but he evolved toward a more electronic sound with hip-hop-styled beats. In 2013, he signed a publishing deal with Warner Chappell, which enabled him to give up his day job as a caregiver for people with Asperger's syndrome. His increasing profile brought him to the attention of Columbia Records, which signed him in 2016. His debut single for Columbia, "Human," dropped in September of that year and was a big hit in several European countries. His first full-length effort (also entitled Human) saw release in early 2017. That same year, Graham was honored with two Brit Awards for British Breakthrough Act and the Choice Award. - iTunes _______________________________________________________________ Top 100 Chart History Calvin Harris 2007 10 Acceptable In The 80s -1- 2007 03 The Girls -2- 2007 43 Merrymaking At My Place -3- 2008 01 Dance Wiv Me (Dizzee Rascal feat. March 29, 20197 yr Something like 'Fashion Week' just gliding into the top 10 with ease is pretty much the saddest indictment of current music. it might as well just be the same song as Options for all i can tell  the streamers just flock to whichever limp dancehall-ish rap tune comes out this week
March 29, 20197 yr Fashion Week by Death Grips or Fashion Week by Steel Banglez? Edited March 29, 20197 yr by DalekTurret32
March 29, 20197 yr Who Do You Love at #41. I knew it. :( It's already got a peak inside the top 40 though.
March 29, 20197 yr My thoughts this week: - G'won Sir Calvin racking up the weeks at #2, 'Giant' really has been another massive hit for him, shame it just got stuck behind an even bigger hit for all this time. Could even go on for a 6th week judging by Spotify at the moment but that's dependant on how well the new Billie Eilish single does. - 'Fashion Week' is rather good, still quite surprising that it managed to debut so high but I suppose the UK does love an afro beats song and they're all rather big names in the scene. - I do enjoy 'Options' but boo at it denying 'Boasty' a top 10 peak (for now). There's still time for it to climb so hopefully it does. - Would love 'Talk' to eventually go top 10 for Khalid (and Disclosure) too, maybe when his album's out? - Good to see Marshmello gaining quickly too, looks like he'll easily go top 10 soon. - 'Keisha & Becky' couldn't be a more obvious 'Gun Lean' clone if it tried but I do quite like it. - Amazing to see 'Piece Of Your Heart' go top 40 already, hopefully it keeps on climbing at this rate because we really need another big dance hit right now. - Can't say I'm fussed about the new George Ezra single but well done to him for actually being able to get multiple post-album hits, and another #41 peak for him would've been undeserved.
March 30, 20197 yr Will High Hopes/Shotgun/Shallow ever leave the top 40? This is why older songs do so well in the YTDs in December now lol. Shotgun reallynis becoming a mega hit now as it approaches 2m sales/streams. Another non-number 1 in 2014s held back download paradise by 5 Seconds of Summer!
