Ed Sheeran - Perfect spent 32 weeks in the Top 100 in one run on SCR in 2020 after being reset, however as it had already fallen to ACR, it does not qualify for this list. 'Evergreen' perhaps may have fallen back to ACR and needed a second reset between its first and second weeks on chart (30 weeks apart) which would thus disqualify it from the list altogether.+ most recent week at date last updatedLast updated w/e 24/07/25

July 3, 20205 yr Perfect and Someone You Loved both getting new positions this week. Perfect now only 1 behind Chasing Cars overall.
September 11, 20204 yr Author It may now forever be assigned to ACR and therefore stay short of My Way's 124 weeks in the Top 75, but Perfect had already done enough to take the record for weeks in the Top 82, 83 and 84... and more importantly, with #94 now added to its collection, it now has an outright record of 75 different positions in the Top 100!
November 20, 20204 yr Perfect #100 this week, now only missing 3 positions between #76 and #100, it’ll probably drop out next week but I’m sure it’ll be back after Christmas

November 20, 20204 yr Author Thanks fchd. That's one record Sinatra will be keeping for a while - if the Pogues reach the Top 40 next week, they'll end up taking his record for weeks in the Top 40 on January 1st. I agree Steve, perhaps aside from 1 or 2 weeks in January 1985 when Everything She Wants was getting the airplay, people were buying the Wham! double A-side for Last Christmas, so I'd combine all its chart weeks.
November 29, 20204 yr Author All lists updated, forgot how long that took each week around Christmas last year  At least one song on permanent ACR due to being over 3 years old has now held every position in the Top 100 with the exception of #40 – maybe one day I’ll post a full list... As it's my 1500th post, that day is today :magic: so here are the first songs to reach each position while on permanent ACR. #40 was finally taken thanks to the resurgence of Dreams a few weeks ago. The #1 position was one of the very first to be taken once the rule was introduced in July 2018, but it hasn't been touched since - maybe in a few weeks time: #1 19/07/2018 Baddiel and Skinner / Lightning Seeds - 3 Lions #2 03/01/2019 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You #3 03/01/2019 Wham! - Last Christmas #4 27/12/2018 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You #5 20/12/2018 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You #6 13/12/2018 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You #7 20/12/2018 Wham! - Last Christmas #8 03/01/2019 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep #9 03/01/2019 Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone #10 20/12/2018 Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York #11 27/12/2018 Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York #12 03/01/2019 Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday #13 27/12/2018 Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? #14 13/12/2018 Wham! - Last Christmas #15 20/12/2018 Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? #16 20/12/2018 Michael Bublé - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas #17 03/01/2019 Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody #18 13/12/2018 Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York #19 27/12/2018 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep #20 27/12/2018 Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone #21 20/12/2018 Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone #22 20/12/2018 Elton John - Step Into Christmas #23 27/12/2018 Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me #24 12/07/2018 Baddiel and Skinner / Lightning Seeds - 3 Lions #25 19/07/2018 Green Day - American Idiot #26 13/12/2018 Band Aid - Do They Know It's Christmas? #27 02/01/2020 Justin Bieber - Mistletoe #28 20/12/2018 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep #29 27/12/2018 John & Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) #30 13/12/2018 Michael Bublé - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas #31 03/01/2019 Bing Crosby - White Christmas #32 12/12/2019 Michael Bublé - It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas #33 20/12/2018 Wizzard - I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday #34 06/12/2018 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You #35 13/12/2018 Ariana Grande - Santa Tell Me #36 13/12/2018 Shakin' Stevens - Merry Christmas Everyone #37 03/01/2019 Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree #38 03/01/2019 Mud - Lonely This Christmas #39 13/12/2018 Brenda Lee - Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree #40 05/11/2020 Fleetwood Mac - Dreams #41 19/07/2018 Fat Les - Vindaloo #42 13/12/2018 Leona Lewis - One More Sleep #43 05/12/2019 Wham! - Last Christmas #44 13/12/2018 Elton John - Step Into Christmas #45 22/11/2018 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody #46 15/11/2018 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody #47 03/01/2019 Coldplay - Christmas Lights #48 19/07/2018 New Order - World In Motion #49 13/12/2018 Chris Rea - Driving Home For Christmas #50 06/12/2018 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody #51 30/08/2018 Aretha Franklin - I Say A Little Prayer #52 29/11/2018 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody #53 08/11/2018 Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody #54 27/12/2018 Coldplay - Christmas Lights #55 27/12/2018 Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree #56 03/01/2019 Nat "King" Cole - The Christmas Song #57 13/12/2018 Slade - Merry Xmas Everybody #58 13/12/2018 John & Yoko and the Plastic Ono Band - Happy Xmas (War Is Over) #59 03/01/2019 Greg Lake - I Believe In Father Christmas #60 27/12/2018 Boney M - Mary's Boy Child / Oh My Lord #61 27/12/2018 Bing Crosby - White Christmas #62 30/08/2018 Aretha Franklin - Respect #63 08/11/2018 Michael Jackson - Thriller #64 13/12/2018 Justin Bieber - Mistletoe #65 29/11/2018 Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas Is You #66 06/12/2018 Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl - Fairytale Of New York #67 22/08/2019 Dave and AJ Tracey - Thiago Silva #68 20/12/2018 Coldplay - Christmas Lights #69 20/12/2018 Kelly Clarkson - Underneath the Tree #70 20/12/2018 Michael Bublé - Holly Jolly Christmas #71 27/12/2018 Jackson 5 - Santa Claus Is Coming To Town #72 19/12/2019 Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime #73 20/12/2018 Bing Crosby - White Christmas #74 03/01/2019 Frank Sinatra - Let It Snow! December 11, 20204 yr As alluded to above. The #1 position has now been held by 2 songs on permanent ACR. Sinatra’s record weeks in the top 40 of 75 will also most likely fall to The Pogues this year, or at the very least be equaled.
December 27, 20204 yr Author I've added a new list for the songs with: Most calendar years in which a new run started in the Top 20 Edited November 4, 20222 yr by jimwatts
December 28, 20204 yr I’m sure I’ve heard before but what happened Mariah in 2010? There was a period at the height of the download era when the Christmas songs struggled to compete. I think it was a combination of people already having downloaded them in previous years and the non Christmas market being really strong. I remember thinking that in a few years they might not make the Top 40 at all. Think they recovered a bit when the 2012 Now Christmas album came out due to cherry picking, and then of course as soon as streaming was counted they came back with a vengeance.
December 28, 20204 yr I think 2011 was also the start of Christmas songs being heavily discounted on iTunes every year iirc? Which definitely helped to combat the saturation.
January 8, 20214 yr I see this has been updated, but Perfect’s record for most weeks in top 82-84 is not in blue so I’m not sure if that needs addressing?
January 9, 20214 yr Author Thanks, I knew I'd forgotten something! Updated Edit: and updated again for this week - poor Chasing Cars continues being attacked at both ends there. Edited January 15, 20214 yr by jimwatts
March 13, 20214 yr Author 2000th post (and they've all been in this forum) I've shifted some of the lists so now all the Most weeks in total in the UK Singles Top X ones appear in the OP, to which I've added most weeks at #1, with or without ACR. The other lists all appear on this page with all the Christmas ones together. Within the lists themselves, Someone You Loved, which already had the most consecutive weeks in the Top 100, now makes the top ten for most weeks in total. At the same time, Thinking Out Loud, which still has the most consecutive weeks in the Top 50, drops out of the corresponding top ten. Shallow will become the 19th song to reach 100 weeks in total next week - it lands at its 62nd different position this week so needs one more to join the top ten for most positions visited.
