I swear this forum has such a hatred of any Male musician

Which male musicians are hated on here? I see a lot of support for the likes of Will Young, Shawn Mendes, George Ezra, some of the boy bands around...

Drake, Ed Sheeran, Chris Brown, any rapper, Sam Smith etc etc. I don't read as much as I used to on here but I can already imagine the 'boring' and all comments Lewis Capaldi will be receiving on here.

Yeah loads of male artists get love. In fact Sam Smith's latest two singles were pretty unanimously loved here. People aren't so keen on Ed Sheeran as music fans because he largely makes unchallenging music for the masses. He's shown on several occasions that he is capable of more but his music is safe as it possibly can to make sure he gets the coin, which is fair enough to him as he knows what he's doing in that respect but it's also fine for people express that they don't like the music?

Chris Brown is largely disliked because of...other reasons, bringing him up is bizarre.

Also it's not really a 'this forum' thing with Ed Sheeran (he actually has a fair few fans here I'd say). He's pretty music disliked across most of Music-fandom internet, social media and forums.
Shotgun re-enters the top 50 just because the sun comes out. There’s other songs about sunshine you know
Seems like there's a big disconnect between forums and the general public on Ed :P

That is my point, there seems a lot of bitterness on here of artists that do well (hence someone mentioning Jess Glynne not being liked). It results in some really painful to read downplaying of both those successful artists achievements and music. It tends to be straight males that get the biggest brunt of it.

I don't really care much for Ed or Drake etc but they obviously do what they do well because the public are fickle and if the music isn't what they are after they move on quickly. So their sustained and continued success is impressive not a reason to put them down.

Perhaps you need to get your head out of your arse? There is absolutely no reason why our taste and opinions must reflect the general public’s. We’re here because we have an active interest in music, the charts are the way the6 are because teenagers need background music. No one is bitter, we simply state which artists we dislike. Most of us love artists who are successful. I enjoy Jess Glynne and Pink and Maroon 5 who are all very successful.

There’s are plenty of people that enjoy music by straight male musicians. Maybe you should stop martyring yourself for a cause that doesn’t exist or just actually admit to what you’re doing here. You are constantly critical of female artists like Ariana and Little Mix (btw I’m no fan of either) and have dumped on continued success for both of those and tried to make them out to be flopping. Isn’t this what you’re accusing people of doing to Ed?

It’s coming across as a little bit misogynistic in all honesty and incredibly hypocritical and is a very terrible read itself.

If you don’t like what people are posting here, you should perhaps log out.

I stopped reading at this point, imaging telling someone they have their head up their arse, then belittling successful artist in the same breath and proving my exact point.

The 'My music taste is superior' rubbish you need to tell yourself.

The point was that we’re not going to always love exactly what’s on top of the charts just because it’s popular with a load of other people? The fact that you refuse to read further means your head must really be stuck there.

Stop looking down on every poster in here, it’s so off putting.

It will be interesting to see what Kylie's songs will rise (or appear in the top 200) due to the Glastonbury performance. She's not a streaming magnet but she smashed, a legend, so Can't Get You Out and Spinning Around maybe? The BBC1 will air the performance at 6pm, that will help too.
