Poor old monumentally thick Sonia. Martin is such a tool.
EastEnders has achieved its best ever year on iPlayer, as new BBC figures have revealed.

The soap enjoyed a record-breaking year on the streaming platform in 2019, with viewers requesting to stream or download the show 234 million times, up 10% on 2018.

The Christmas Day episode has now become EastEnders' biggest ever on BBC iPlayer, with 2.14 million viewer requests

Glad it’s still popular on catchup! The great thing with iPlayer is just the 10-15 wait post-airing whereas other services it can be hours

I never watch live anymore, always use iplayer.
GROSS. I was right about Eastenders and its sexism.

I don’t see how that news proves you right whatsoever.

*cue* the same rant that comes up every time from him

I am excited for the anniversary episodes as the anniversary episodes are generally very strong.

I didn't see that trend before but if its a good sign all the better.

Kellie Bright is really showing her actressing weight in the role of an alcoholic, i think she has delivered some faultless scenes as of late so i welcome her been part of the anniversary episode.

I would agree it is her best storyline since she joined the show although she delivered strong scenes in the rape storyline.

The alcoholic storyline has really shown her strong acting abilities.

Shirley, her character is very lost as of late and same with Tina.

I would miss Shirley if she ever left but Tina i would not notice if she was never on screen.

What was the point of the scene with Tina saying she was getting back with Tosh? I'm quite offended Tina said it was Shirley's way of being subtle and even Mick picked up on it and I didn't haha.

Is there a more loathsome character than Mick Carter. Absolutely horrendous and Danny Dyer’s acting is shocking.

I want this to be the end of Mick and Linda. She can survive as a character on her own.

Ya I really think she would be better without him.

The problem is Mick is always portrayed as the victim in everything and it just doesn’t work convincingly anymore. Whenever he screws up, it’s not his fault. When his kids screwed up, it was all about how it affected him. Now the same is happening with his wife.

Honestly, it’s no wonder Linda has turned to drink.

I think it's been quite clear that if there's any victim in this storyline, it's Ollie - especially after the most recent episode. He's the one who's having his world turned upside down because his mum's always drunk. I wish Mick would be more supportive of Linda and push her to get the help she needs, but I really don't believe he's being portrayed as any sort of victim. Of course, he's being affected by it, but who wouldn't be? They're writing him as more human than they have in a LONG time and it's refreshing for the character imo.
