Posted August 18, 20195 yr Today marks five years since Taylor's yahoo livestream which means that it is five years today since pop classic shake it off was released and we set off on her biggest era yet! On this day, we got our first live performance of shake it off (with some iconic gifs which I can't find as I'm on my phone x), our first listen to the song and the video! We also got the 1989 title, artwork (which ofc in typical Taylor fashion leaked like 20 mins before the livestream), release date and her officially announcing this was her first pop album yet! Shake it off went on to be her biggest hit and debuted at 4 in the UK and later went on to peak at 2! The song also spent 4 (?) weeks at 1 in America, including debuting at the top spot, and was unlucky to not have a longer run at the top spot cos all about that bass blocked it at 2 for so many weeks! It's 2x platinum in the UK (with nearly 1 million download sales!) and diamond (but still not officially announced ffs) in the USA! August 18, 20195 yr Author Omg I cannot at this being FIVE YEARS AGO WTAF!! I feel so old now I remember the livestream so well and being so excited when it started at 10pm our time 😂 I was absolutely obsessed with shake it off from the first second and remember listening to it on repeat for like 6/7 hours afterwards, intertwined with some video plays 😂 It's still my fave Taylor song ever tbh, I always go back to it all the time and it's just a fantastic fun pop smash which just always makes me feel great and I have so many amazing memories of this song 😍 Instant love with the 1989 artwork as well, so iconic *.* this night was sparkling and started off possibly my favourite era of all time ❤️💗 Have so many more amazing memories of this era which I'll post about later!
August 19, 20195 yr 1989 is my favourite Taylor album (and one of the best pop albums of the decade) but Shake it Off is one of my least favourite on it. What an era though - she got it so spot on in every single way. :wub:
August 19, 20195 yr 5 years?! Wow I genuinely remember you freaking out over 'Shake It Off' premiering at the time, Sam! '1989' is her best album by miles for me :wub: not a single dud. Pop perfection.
