Global aren't hanging around with their output with the success of Heart Dance last month, Heart 90s starts tomorrow! Kevin Hughes will be presenting breakfast. Global apparently have plans for a whole wave of new stations and this looks like the first of 5 to be announced.

Global, the Media & Entertainment Group, has today announced the launch of five brand-new radio stations nationally on DAB Digital radio and on Global Player, over the next week.

Global will launch one station each day, starting tomorrow, then one on Friday, one on Monday and two more new stations on Tuesday.

Part of Global’s brand-led strategy, the new stations will all sit within one of Global’s seven main brands, and all be focussed on a particular era or genre of music.

Judging by Global’s twitter, it looks like we should also be getting a Smooth Country, A throwback/old skool Capital Xtra and Heart 70s. The fifth one is bugging me, it’s some sort of chill out station I think for the Smooth network.

Heart 70s confirmed for tomorrow. A little bit different I guess, I can’t remember the last time actual Heart played any 70s music so it’ll have some appeal
Good to hear Kevin Hughes has got the slot as I've always thought he's one of the better independent commerical radio DJs. How they ever thought Amanda Holden was a good idea for Heart's main breakfast show is beyond me though.

Think Smooth would of suited the 70's better but I can see they're trying to really push as much out of the Heart brand as possible probably to try and get the Heart brand as a whole to overtake Radio 2's listening figures.

These stations dedicated to one decade are an interesting idea. I know Absolute Radio have had them for a while, I was switching between their 80s, 90s and 00s ones recently on a digital radio app on my phone and it was quite fun.
