you’re wrong + you’re insufferable, not to mention ageist. duffy is 35 btw.

if you think eurovision is naff, why are you even here?

why would you seek out a sub-forum discussing a competition that you don’t even like?

you’re antagonistic + currently seem to find a great sense of pleasure in inserting yourself into topics where you’re dead set on stirring things up with a left-field or unpopular opinion so that you can argue with other members. then you have the audacity to spend the rest of your time complaining that people have an issue with the things you say.

Jesus F***ING CHRIST!

I Don’t think Eurovision is naff I’m saying most people outside this forum do. It’s our entries i’m not a fan of not Eurovision in general. And what’s controversial about not being a fan of steps or saying they’re more likely than Mabel. Absolutely f***ing nothing that’s what. I didn’t insert myself into anything either. Do some fact checking on me before you start saying I’m this and I’m that.

And you’re actually one who started this “argument” as well. You’ve never spoke to me in your life. Come back to me when you realise that this forum represents a small selection of the demographic and when you realise your average UK Annie doesn’t give a flying f*** about Eurovision. Plus how is saying someone’s age ageist I’ve heard it all.

steps have 14 consecutive top 5 singles, 2 #1 singles, 3 #1 albums, 7 sell-out arena tours (including the record for the most sold out nights at wembley arena), a brit award + a massively successful comeback album campaign - which spawned 2 massive tours.

they also enjoyed some great success in europe + australia..

..what’s your definition of credible?

How many people does it take to write a steps song though and how many of their tracks at their peak did they write

Duffy is way more involved in that side of stuff. I’m not saying steps are successful I’m saying she’s more credible. I don’t those facts. Steps are manufactured. Duffy isn’t x

He has a point though, I love Steps, but they are not seen as credible. They just aren't, with the greatest will in the world - that'll never change, no matter their success. It all depends on which route you think UK should take - arguably we have done the Steps kinda route before by way of Scooch (high choreographed bubblegum pop) - it didn't go so well. But we send Andrew Lloyd-Webber / Diane Warren penned ballad and it did well. Despite what you think of the song itself, he / she were seen as credible. Times change, if we keep sending disposable pop - there will be very few artists that will be willing to take a shot at it in future through fear of association of the genre.

Kye I PMd you asking you to get to know me and then explained my point

I also said on post 134 I don’t personally want us to fail or think Eurovision is naff.

You’re literally making this a much bigger deal than what it is which is sort of confusing tbh.

credibility is subjective - i see them as credible. steps + scooch aren’t even in the same path.

the laughable thing is, steps aren’t actually doing it!

Thank you!!! This is what I mean although you’ve put it together a lot better but Jade was our last good entry. Steps are successful and especially during their peak they were huge but success and credibility are very different things. Steps tick the success box but not the credible one. But that’s just my opinion.

jordan, i don’t want to get to know you. i’m taking you from the posts that i’ve seen around the forum + you come across as extremely antagonistic + argumentative. lots of people on here put their point across eloquently, sometimes argumentatively but with a charm + heart behind what they’re saying. you just seem, from what i’ve seen, to flit from topic to topic wanting to cause a stir for the sake of it. i can guarantee that every time i see your name in a topic, you’ll be saying something for a reaction.

i’m happy to leave it here + just say we have a difference of opinion. but, as you’ve said many times in your posts, that’s just my opinion x

I disagree. People will still think Eurovision is not the most serious thing ever but if you make an effort in a few years the situation can definitely change dramatically. Especially if the effort pays off. All it takes is a handful of Top 10 placings and preferably a win. And of course artists willing to take the heat.

I mean in Russia hardly anyone takes Eurovision very seriously but really big artists are being sent and no one looks at them differently in the slightest after they do it.

Same in The Netherlands. Ive said it before and I'll say it again. It only takes 1 artist to turn other artists, it takes a few years to slowly turn the public eye. Hell The Netherlands were asking for a boycot before Anouk and now we're happy to be hosting

Their dance routines are not "half arsed", where has that opinion come from?

They're not really top notch dancers either, are they?

This!

Molly is genuinely one of the most underrated Eurovision songs of the 2010's in general, let alone just as a UK entry. It deserved so much more </3

LMAO you’re genuinely the king of that????

You started it bc I said Eurovision mainly has a gay fanbase then said stop when I said Duffy was credible like what.

At least you gendered me correctly today. I’ll take king over being called sis x

I don't think it'll be JLS. They've only been back for a week and a half, and all they've done so far is put a new tour on sale, they've even said themselves they've not been in the studio yet.

I think the optimist in me would like to think that with Radio 1 announcing it it could be a more contemporary artist, and I love Mabel, I think she's fantastic so would be a great choice to send her with a really current, upbeat song. The other side of me though wonders if it's just something they'll announce under obligation and then speak no more of five minutes after the fact.

(and Electro Velvet were actually alright)

I think it's probably just the two of us that enjoyed that one  Guilty pleasure, not sorry.

Anyway. I've no idea who these are signed to but...

Hurts - they're perennially rumoured, aren't they?

Birdy

Giggs

Sigma

Foals

Keane

Not3s

Wiley

Robyn collaborating with a British writer

Biffy out of Biffy Clyro

Hurts or Birdy are slightly possible I guess. I'd prefer Duffy over Steps (though thought Duffy had 'retired' from mainstream life as she hates it hence why we never hear from her), and tbf Mabel would be a decent send even though I've never been fussed on her. Kylie is a possibility too actually, saw her name mentioned, I think she would now.

Imagine ROBYN though

I´m sorry but how many times...a current big very successful artist from the UK is NOT going to do Eurovision. They have nothing to gain from it and everything to lose. It will *NOT* be Mabel. I would put my life savings on it.

I feel bad for people when they inevitably feel dissapointed every UK reveal day, but they get so carried away with the speculations.
