if the Niall song were on HH it would have had a softer fall,

unlike urban acts, pop songs cannot do well without playlist support even if you're an ex-1D

 

Has Spotify streams def plateaued now? Seems like ages since we got singles doing a million a day!! Maybe as we move on and this generation continue to stream with age and newer younger people sign up it gradually increase again!

Only a tiny handful of songs have ever done a million in a day in the UK (mostly Christmas songs and Ed Sheeran lol) :P but yeah, it does seem the streams at the top end of the Spotify chart are lower than they were a year or two ago. I guess the streaming market is just becoming more competitive and there have been more people switching from Spotify to other services than people starting using Spotify (or switching to it).

 

Niall's song isn't really a pop song, it's more reminiscent of 00s indie. It's not something I see doing that well even with playlist support but I hope I'll be wrong.

actually streams have been decent last couple days with Dance Monkey going over 500K, streams were much lower for the last couple weeks

 

what I meant earlier is that only urban acts can chart without playlist support, pop or dance need it, indie can hardly make it even with playlist support
