He told Financial Times he is selling the three works by Banksy to finance his own “art project” that he will launch this year and to free up some space to reinvest in “new art from new people.”

Oh, I like this point.

“I love Banksy’s art. It’s iconic and impactful, and it makes me laugh”

“Hopefully I’m going to go on tour at the end of this year. But you see how this year has gone,” Williams said during a recent interview.

Referring to the ongoing impact of COVID restrictions on the music industry, he explained: “I think every summer we’re going to think it’s over and then every winter it’s going to come back. Every time I’ve had a guess that this is going to be over, I’ve been completely wrong.”

Yes, really looking forward to see how it will all come together. I think he is really brave for doing it .

Did he not say initially that he would launch his album at the same time, not sure how that would work . I know Ronnie Wood does art but I think it's separate from his music career, then again he is part of a big band & not a solo artist so I guess Robbie has lots of options

Exclusive preview and talk on February 28 at Mobile World Congress; stream available at 1:30 p.m. on telekom.com ( link to telekom provided below )

With his song "Angels" Robbie Williams ascended to pop Olympus in 1997. 25 years later a new unique version is revealed in cooperation with Telekom and accompanied by Ludwig van Beethoven. For the project Telekom has used an Artificial Intelligence which already completed Beethovens's 10th symphony in 2021. This way, a new version of the song by Beethoven and "Angels" co-writers Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers could be arranged. The song also includes parts of "Mondscheinsonate." The result can be heard for the first time on February 28 at Mobile World Congress as part of the Telekom Highlight Sessions. The pre-listening at 1.30 p.m. will be followed by a talk with both Robbie Williams and Guy Chambers on telekom.com. Williams looks forward to preview on Feb. 28 "Angels" obviously has a very special place in my heart" Robbie Williams says. "I'm looking forward to the preview of this interesting version on February 28th at Mobile World Congress. For me, it's fascinating how much technology is now enabling art."

For Claudia Nemat, Member of the Board of Management for Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom, the AI version of "Angels" is an important signal: "As Telekom, we are driving digitization forward. For us, this also means consciously focusing on the potential and opportunities offered by technology. And also creating new solutions in creative processes. That's why we're particularly excited to explore the possibilities of AI and creativity together with Robbie Williams on one of the best songs in pop history. We're excited to offer a preview of it on February 28.

Robbie Williams and AI Beethoven? Admittedly: That sounds like an unusual combination that also opens up questions about the potential of AI for art.

Questions that will be answered at the pre-listening event on February 28 1:30 p.m. at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. During the talk between Robbie Williams, Guy Chambers, Matthias Röder (project manager) and Claudia Nemat, the details of the project as well as the role of AI for creative processes will be highlighted.

DT dispatches Robbie Williams and an AI Beethoven to MWC

sQ9xIQi.jpg

German MNO Deutsche Telekom will kick off Mobile Word Congress with a collaboration between Robbie Williams and an AI facsimile of Beethoven, in what is definitely not a publicity stunt.

AI boffins apparently created the ‘Beethoven X project’ in order to complete Ludwig van Beethoven’s 10th Symphony, and now they have used the same algorithmic system to rearrange Robbie Williams 90’s warbler Angels in the style of the composer, whatever that means.

Why has the telco decide to recruit Robbie Williams and robo-Beethoven to spearhead its MWC push? The release explains: “For Deutsche Telekom, digital responsibility is an inseparable part of digitization. That is why the company repeatedly focuses on the challenges of new technologies. For example, how they interact with us humans. How creative can artificial intelligence be, for example? Deutsche Telekom is now exploring this question with world star Robbie Williams.”

Of course they are.

Beethoven can’t comment on his archetypal musical style being replicated digitally using AI in order to promote telecoms services because he died in 1827 and wouldn’t know what any of that means, but Robbie Williams from Take That said: “Angels obviously has a very special place in my heart. I’m looking forward to the preview of this interesting version on February 28th at Mobile World Congress. For me, it’s fascinating how much technology is now enabling art.”

Claudia Nemat, who has the laborious job title of Member of the Board of Management for Technology and Innovation at Deutsche Telekom, said “As Telekom, we are driving digitization forward. For us, this also means consciously focusing on the potential and opportunities offered by technology. And also creating new solutions in creative processes. That’s why we’re particularly excited to explore the possibilities of AI and creativity together with Robbie Williams on one of the best songs in pop history.”

There will be a ‘pre-listening’ event at MWC on February 28th. We’re not sure what a pre-listening event is, nor at what point the crowd transcends to a ‘listening’ and ‘post-listening‘ temporal state. But if you are curious you can check it out and then watch a talk with Robbie Williams, Angels co-writer Guy Chambers, Claudia Nemattry, and project manager Matthias Röder, as they try to explain what it is they are playing at and how it relates to the telecoms sector

It is interesting what they say in this video if you relate it to the article above where Robbie talks about technology enabling art , I wonder of Robs work will be displayed here at some stage in the future & if one of his main sponsors will be Deutsche Telekom, he has worked with them before I believe. I also wonder if Robbie will be making a personal appearance next Monday or will it be via a media platform
