It’s crazy how 42 consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of the UK albums chart a mere 6/7 years ago would’ve most likely equated to sales close to a million, yet this is only just achieving Platinum. Is it time to lower the certification thresholds?
Out of the irish top 10 for the first time this week. Hard to know if lowering certifications would be fair as sales are low for a while now until they back dated it a bit but, I think lowering certifications could be a good move though but id recommend increasing certification on singles, a million seller these days is nothing now where as before it was a huge achievement.
been really loving the title track recently, he really leaned into the indie influences — sounds like bon iver at first then heads into the national territory w the climax. so gorge
Golden is set to impact US adult pop radio formats on 26 October 2020 as the album's fifth single; I’m guessing it’s a worldwide release too with the music video out soon.

Fine Line retuning to the top 10 again is great for the album.

I think Fine Line will manage good sales in Q4.

Nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album in the Grammys! Watermelon Sugar is nominated for Best Pop Solo Performance and Adore You for Best Music Video. Sadly no record / song / album of the year nods but these are still Harry's first Grammy noms!! :cheer:

Harry Styles re-arranged the tracklisting for Fine Line "100 times"

Harry Styles has revealed that he re-arranged the tracklisting for Fine Line "just under" a 100 times before its release.

With his second studio album, the Sign of the Times hitmaker has had quite the year since its release - netting three Top 10 hits on the Official Singles Chart with Lights Up, Adore You and Watermelon Sugar (which also became his first US Number 1 this summer).

But it seems that Harry certainly put the work in to make the LP a success - he admitted to re-arranging the tracklist of the record nearly 100 times during its production.

Speaking to Variety, Harry said that his perfectionist streak partly came from his love of the "story" of an album.

"How do you want people to hear your work?" He asked. “Because I do sit down and listen to albums, and I care about the way that things run — how that makes me feel and the story that it tells. It’s only natural that I would put emphasis on that.”

Apparently, though, he always knew that Golden (now the album's fifth single and his sixth UK Top 40 single) would kick off the album, and that the record would conclude with the title track.

Fine Line debuted at Number 3 on the Official Albums Chart upon its release in December 2019 and has had massive staying power. In fact, it's currently the second biggest record of 2020 in the UK so far.

And to boot, both Watermelon Sugar and Adore You are in the Top 20 of the biggest songs of 2020 so far.

Love the amount of effort Harry put into the tracklist, it's a part of the album process so easily neglected, particularly in the pop world. Golden and Fine Line work especially well in their slots!

How songs are positioned on an album does make a difference and I welcome Harry putting in so much effort deciding it.
