Ya its great that it did eventually to manage to get to number 1 but i think since that happened its success declined a little in the years that followed and Wham took over but im hoping she can reverse it again as I much prefer all i want for Christmas to last Christmas.

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" remains at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a 20th week! It becomes the sole longest-running #1 song on the chart!

I am also very happy it managed to go #1 in the UK. I wish it could become a 2-way battle and Mariah and Whan balance their #1 stays out a bit. But oh well. It is what it is.

Me too!!! She deserves to be biggest sang ever again. The problem is the sang is so bombastic that in years of bad economy and gloom and brexshit misery, people want sadder xmas sangs, not upbeat ones

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" is no longer eligible to chart on the Australian Singles Chart.

And why no!?!?!?!?!

Australia changed its chart rules recently, only songs released within the last 2 years are eligible for the main singles chart! They now have a chart dedicated to older music called "On Replay" where All I Want for Christmas Is You is at #1.

And even by doing that, their Top 50 singles chart still doesn't look particularly fresh, with the average "number of weeks in chart" being 33 weeks, with half of the chart being songs that are 6 months old or older.

I think I believe it a step in the right direction, but I don't really care anymore to be honest. I lost pretty much all interest in the Australian charts around 2015.

Surely it’s the opposite - see Slade in 1973!

They finally saw sense and realised it's shit 🤣

Australia is a mess... on the BB chart for Australia, the song is #8.

AIWFCIY has now sold over 50 MILLION worldwide!

Total global certification 33m. <3

I'm glad she never remixed it or did a ft on it

There is this So So Def remix featuring Jermaine Dupri and Bow Wow, but I wouldn't say it's particularly well known or remembered. It was released in Japan in 2000:

Justin Bieber collaboration in 2011:

Also "New Dance Mix" from 2009 and "Extra Festive" from 2010.

The Justin Bieber collab is classed as a separate song, whilst the streams of So So Def remix go towards the original 1994 release.

In the USA:

  • "All I Want For Christmas Is You" reigns at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for a 21st week

  • "All I Want For Christmas Is You" is now the longest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100 by a woman with 78 weeks, surpassing Dua Lipa's "Levitating" (77 weeks)

  • Mariah is now the first artist in history to do 100 weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100

I'm confused lol

It has ONE HUNDRED weeks at no.1, but only 78 weeks in the chyiat??

Mariah's spent 100 weeks at #1 across all her #1s x

Midweek predictions have AIWFCIY doing a 22nd week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100!
