November 1, 20196 yr I wish 'Ride It' would bugger off, I'm disliking that more and more every time I hear it.
November 1, 20196 yr I was surprised to know that Toni Watson is only 19 years old (born August 15 2000). Not only because she looks like well in her mid-twenties but also because that makes her the first artist born in the 2000s to top the UK chart, at least as the lead artist.
November 1, 20196 yr Next week's contender? Dua Lipa Don't Start Now 1st single from second studio album Released: 31st October 2019 Label: Dua Lipa Video oygrmJFKYZY Biography English pop singer Dua Lipa showcases a throwback vibe and a knack for catchy pop with soulful grit, much like Sia, Jessie J, or P!nk, and a slyly rebellious air like Charli XCX or Marina & the Diamonds. After a steady rise in the U.K., she broke onto the U.S. charts with a series of collaborations with Sean Paul, Martin Garrix, and Calvin Harris, as well as multi-platinum singles "New Rules" and "IDGAF" from her 2017 debut, Dua Lipa. In 2019, she won Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for her collaboration with Silk City, "Electricity." Born and raised in London to Kosovar-Albanian parents, Lipa attended the Sylvia Young Theater School (Rita Ora, Amy Winehouse) until the age of 13, when she relocated to Kosovo with her family. However, the move wouldn't last very long, and she was back in London by age 15, living on her own and pursuing a singing career. Her first demos were released in 2012, attracting the attention of Lana Del Rey's management team, who signed her and linked her up with Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, Bruno Mars). Her shimmery debut single, "New Love," was followed up with the soulful "Be the One." Long-listed for the prestigious BBC's Sound of 2016, Lipa released "Hotter Than Hell" and "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)" in 2016, coinciding with a tour throughout the spring and summer. While "Hotter Than Hell" went on to break into the Top 20 in the U.K., in 2017 she earned the distinction of having three simultaneously charting singles in the U.K. Top 15 with "Be the One," "Scared to Be Lonely" with Martin Garrix, and "No Lie" with Sean Paul. Dua Lipa, her debut full-length, arrived that summer. In addition to her previously released singles, the album included "Lost in Your Light" (a duet with Miguel) and "Homesick" (with Coldplay's Chris Martin). Since a handful of singles had already been in international rotation since 2015, the album's revived international promotional effort focused on the single "New Rules," which became another multi-platinum hit, not only rising into the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100 but also landing on European and Australian Top Ten lists. Eighth album single "IDGAF" followed in 2018, extending her chart presence. That summer, she teamed with Calvin Harris for the '90s club-inspired "One Kiss," which helped land Lipa another number one. Closing out the whirlwind success of this breakthrough era, she collected all these collaborative singles and bundled them with the deluxe version of her debut album as Dua Lipa: Complete Edition, which was promoted with the single "Kiss and Make Up" with K-pop girl group BlackPink. In early 2019, Lipa won Best New Artist at the 61st Grammy Awards, also taking the prize for Best Dance Recording for "Electricity," her collaborative hit single with Diplo and Mark Ronson's Silk City project. - iTunes Top 100 Chart History 2016 15 Hotter Than Hell -2- 2016 30 Blow Your Mind (Mwah) -3- 2016 10 No Lie (Sean Paul feat. November 1, 20196 yr Next week's contender? Sigala featuring Ella Henderson We Got Love 2nd single from second studio album Released: 1st November 2019 Label: Ministry of Sound Recordings / B1 Recordings Video CLJjzlRfKDM Biography Sigala is the musical nom de plume of Bruce Fielder, a London-based house DJ, producer, and remixer. Born and raised in Norfolk, England, Fielder began piano as a child, and played in various bands after graduating university. He found work as a producer, and co-wrote Ella Eyre and Sigma's 2015 U.K. hit single "Good Times." His first solo single as Sigala was "Easy Love," an energetic house tune built around a sample of the Jackson 5's iconic hit "ABC." Released by Ministry of Sound, it entered the U.K. singles chart and shot up to number one in its second week. Fielder's second single, "Sweet Lovin'" (featuring singer/songwriter Bryn Christopher), hit number three and was certified gold or platinum in several countries. Several more hits followed in 2016, including "Say You Do" (featuring Imani and DJ Fresh), "Give Me Your Love" (featuring John Newman and Chic's Nile Rodgers), and "Ain't Giving Up," a collaboration with Craig David that appeared on his sixth album, Following My Intuition. In 2017, Sigala co-produced the single "Show You Love" with Danish DJ Kato, sung by Hailee Steinfeld. He then paired with singer Paloma Faith for the 2018 single "Lullaby." Also in 2018, Sigala brought together ten of his previously released singles, as well as a handful of album tracks, to make up his debut studio album, Brighter Days. - iTunes Top 100 Chart History Sigala 2015 01 Easy Love -1- 2015 03 Sweet Lovin' (feat. November 1, 20196 yr Today was the first time I heard Selenas Lose You To Love Me I’d have honestly thought that was Julia Michaels singing
November 1, 20196 yr I just realised Tones is the first UK number one artist to be born after 1999 It looks like she's lying about her age.. she had her 22nd birthday in 2015 according to her Facebook!
November 1, 20196 yr It looks like she's lying about her age.. she had her 22nd birthday in 2015 according to her Facebook! Oh! My bad!
November 1, 20196 yr That's weird, gonna have to do some detecting on that :P Everywhere says she's 19.
November 1, 20196 yr If she really is the first then I'm going to hope that she's going to remain the worst... :P interesting that it took nearly 9 years for someone to (apparently) actually achieve that after Willow very nearly did so with 'Whip My Hair'. (Oh my at her being exposed as a possible fraud though x) A bit disappointed that 'Follow God' ended up slipping out of the top 5 as it had been climbing throughout the mids, but #6 is still very good and higher than I'd have ever predicted anything from this album to get (also my intentionally misleading factoid about it being the highest charting song from a Kanye album since 'Stronger' remains true :magic:) Cool that the album did manage to get to #2 in the end at least, wasn't expecting to see James Blunt overtaking Rick Astley though! Also nice that Rex OC managed to hang onto the top 5 so we retained an all new top 5 albums. Nice to see Lizzo getting a top 10 hit (although it really should have been 'Truth Hurts', or ideally 'Tempo', rather than this one x), Niall being comfortably top 40 and Coldplay at least staying top 30 (I was hoping for top 25 but #27 is not a bad debut at all for an act who have been around for so long and can be vaguely described as indie, it's been doing pretty well so far on Spotify so I'm hoping it has a chance of rising to a higher peak later like 'Adventure Of A Lifetime' did). As for the other newies, 'Lose You To Love Me' is growing on me, a very nice song so glad to see it doing well for her, 'Look At Her Now' can piss off though, the chorus/breakdown is extremely annoying oops. 'Floss' is decent enough (even if it sounds like an attempt at a Tyga song), hoping 'Kiss And Tell' can manage a top 20 debut next week though as it's a lot better. And... I'm not going to complain that R1 skipped the other 2 Kanye songs as they were both among the worst on the album for me. Lol at them cutting out the outro of 'Follow God' though when the song is less than 2 minutes long even with it included... A little disappointed as well that 'HIGHEST IN THE ROOM' is out of the top 10 already, also oops at 'Buss Down' slipping out this week too although I think it might re-enter as it has only just gone top 10 on Spotify.
November 1, 20196 yr Usually it's pretty logical I think. Obviously they're just not keen to play The Script, and there's no obligation to this week as it's not new and it hasn't climbed Your right but my thoughts are that the chart shouldn't be subject to the playlist that other normal shows are so it would be nice to play songs they don't have on their own playlist. That's why I used to love the hart to hear tracks on radio 1 that would chart lower down the top 40 they don't normally play. I do understand they don't play every track now though.
November 2, 20196 yr It's truly amazing timing for 'Ride It' to be top 5 on a week that Jay Sean is top 5 in the chart retros not once, but twice. Especially when those are his only two top 5 hits!
November 2, 20196 yr ^ also Kanye making his return to the top 10 while being mentioned in the lyrics of 'Ride It' :magic: x
November 2, 20196 yr It looks like she's lying about her age.. she had her 22nd birthday in 2015 according to her Facebook! I known lots of eople who lie about there ages on facebook though
