There are NDAs between record companies and streaming services, meaning that neither do the artists know nor do we know how much streaming equals income. But it seems to me that yet again the artists involved (not just the lead artists but all creatives) are being shat on.

Streaming equalled a massive loss of income but it doesnt really have to be that way and streaming services as well rich so they could afford to pay better to the artists involved. Also, most lead artists (not writers or producers) on record labels now are on 360-deals, meaning that they get a salary with some extra stuff and nothing else, whilst record labels keep all the profits from everything including touring and sponsorships. It's not like before when artists would get huge lump sums of money in advance and then get would also get part of the profits - or if it is, it is much more reduced than it used to be.

The industry really needs to change, specially in a post-COVID world where most artists ability to make ends meet has been drastically reduced.

ANYWAY the point that I was making is that these two songs will never be nice little earners for Emma, when they flopped and are not really taken up on streaming at all...

Oh I'm not disagreeing with you, I was simply questioning how much a songwriter on one album track from an album. Also it's very strange if she only earned "200 when the majority of Kylies are physicals, which made me wonder how many have co-written on the song as sometimes it is ridiculous.

I also don't think either will be nice sellers they will be eclipsed by superior Christmas songs. I mean last year CHFC sold 620 copies and that's not just streams as it was also released to download platforms like iTunes etc. Santa Baby did even worse with 155 copies. At this rate it will take her 10 years to get to 6k copies... That's unless she releases a new physical bundle every year in which case it will be a lovely seller :w00t:

I never said earners I said sellers, they will get a nice boost every year and every year Emma will promote them on social media like she has done this year.

:teresa: I get what you are saying and I wish that was a thing but in reality that wont do much at all 👇🏼

It only needs to be put on one decent Christmas playlist one year to be a massive success (solo Spice girls standard wise) I'm sure that's why every man and his dog has released a Christmas song in the last 3 or 4 years.

I mean Kylie's Santa Baby was just a b-side.

Emma's Santa Baby is probably never going to do much due to Kylie already having a recording of it. They're in the same age bracket and target demographic, so Kylie's will always win out there. If Emma had been 20 years younger, then maybe her Santa Baby could do something.

Coming Home For Christmas is just dull.

The truth.

I agree she definitely should have picked an old forgotten classic Christmas song or one that hasn't got a modern version.

I actually really like Coming Home for Christmas! It's sweet. The last chorus with the extra bells is very festive

I do agree that her cover should have been a more inspired choice than Santa Baby. Honestly it's not one of my favourite Christmas songs whoever performs it.

Cozy Christmas pop playlist that Santa Baby is on is up to 10k likes now (it was at 7k 8 days ago) and her monthly listeners are up to 211k highest I've seen them.

Just shows what playlisting does.

True, even in the My Happy Place era, she never really went much beyond exactly 200k as she never got any playlisting.

More playlisting please 🙏🏼

One of the worst songs on My happy place (come away with me) is on a chill covers playlist with a fair amount of likes and is now the 2nd most played song from it iirc. Depressing it is that song but just shows how playlists dictate popularity because no one would be seeking out Come away with me over most of her other material.
Getting added to playlists is great but unless the right songs are chosen like you say Sammy it goes to show people just play what's in front of them just because it's there.
Over 213k listeners now, cozy Christmas playlist keeps growing 11.5k likes now helping Emma.
Well at least CHFC is picking up a few streams lol
Nice little bump in streaming for Emma thanks to the Christmas songs up to 224,348 listeners now.

If this was any other girl you would be saying how bad their streaming is.

2 become 1 up to #380 on Apple Music.

#380 on Apple music is very good, especially for a 24 year old song that's already got 1.3m sales.

Where is Into you on Apple music btw?
