Biography

Coming on smart, sassy, and strong, like an indie Missy Elliot, Minneapolis rapper and singer Lizzo arrived in the Twin Cities with a hard sound and stance, thanks to her Texas roots and time learning the ropes with crews like Atlanta's Crime Mob. Born Melissa Jefferson in Houston and raised in Detroit, Lizzo earned her moniker when she joined the uniformly named members -- Lexo, Nino, and Zeo -- of the Cornroll Clique. A 2011 move to Minneapolis found her fronting Lizzo & the Larva Ink while joining the neo-TLC-type group the Chalice. Her work began to intertwine with the city's indie scene, which included artists like Gayngs, Doomtree, Marijuana Deathsquads, and Har Mar Superstar; listening to a copy of Doomtree producer Lazerbreak's album Lava Breaks brought her out of a long case of writer's block.

Inspired by Lazerbreak's work, she recorded the album Lizzobangers with the producer plus Gayngs member Ryan Olson. The album was released in 2013 on the Totally Gross National Product label. After making guest appearances on tracks by Prince & 3rdEyeGirl ("Boytrouble"), Clean Bandit ("New Eyes"), Bastille ("Torn Apart"), and Sean Anonymous & DJ Name ("Cold Shoulder"), Lizzo released her second full-length album, 2015's Big GRRRL Small World, on her own BGSW label. In October 2016, Lizzo made her major-label debut with the EP Coconut Oil, which was released by Atlantic's Nice Life imprint. The following year saw her drop the singles "Water Me" and "Truth Hurts," with "Fitness" and "Boys" arriving the following year. In February 2019, Lizzo issued the title track from her full-length Cuz I Love You, which arrived later that April. - iTunes

Biography

Selena Marie Gomez (born July 22, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, actress and executive producer. After appearing on the children's series Barney & Friends (2002–2004), she received wider recognition for her portrayal of Alex Russo on the Emmy Award-winning Disney Channel television series Wizards of Waverly Place, which aired from 2007 until 2012. Gomez also starred in the films Another Cinderella Story (2008), Princess Protection Program (2009), Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009), Ramona and Beezus (2010), and Monte Carlo (2011). Thereafter, she focused on more mature roles in Spring Breakers (2012), Getaway (2013), The Fundamentals of Caring (2016), and The Dead Don't Die (2019). She voices the character of Mavis in the Hotel Transylvania film franchise, and serves as an executive producer of the Netflix television drama series 13 Reasons Why (2017–present) and the Netflix documentary series Living Undocumented (2019).

With her former band Selena Gomez & the Scene, she attained the gold certified top-ten albums Kiss & Tell (2009), A Year Without Rain (2010) and When the Sun Goes Down (2011) on the US Billboard 200, and produced top-thirty songs like "Naturally" and "Love You like a Love Song". In 2012, the band went on hiatus, and Gomez focused work on her debut album as a solo artist. The pop and dance influenced Stars Dance (2013) became her first number-one album on the Billboard 200, and included "Come & Get It", which became her first top-ten entry on the US Billboard Hot 100. To finish out her contract with Hollywood Records, she released the compilation album For You (2014). It included the single "The Heart Wants What It Wants", which became her second top-ten entry.

After signing with Interscope Records in late 2014, she released her second studio album, Revival (2015). It became her second consecutive number-one regular album on the Billboard 200, with the highest first week sales of her career. The album was well-received by music critics, who praised the album's production and lyrical content. The first three singles, "Good for You" with ASAP Rocky, "Same Old Love", and "Hands to Myself", all became top-ten entries on the Billboard Hot 100, and reached number one on the Mainstream Top 40 chart. Revival was her first album to achieve platinum status in the US. Since then, she has experimented with different sounds on the singles "Bad Liar" and "Fetish" with Gucci Mane, and has featured on several collaborations, including "We Don't Talk Anymore" with Charlie Puth, "It Ain't Me" with Kygo, "Wolves" with Marshmello, and "Taki Taki" with DJ Snake.

In 2017, Billboard reported that Gomez has sold over 7 million albums and 22 million singles worldwide. Gomez has earned numerous awards throughout her career, and was recognized as the Billboard Woman of the Year in 2017. She was at one time the most followed individual on Instagram, before being surpassed by athlete Cristiano Ronaldo in October 2018. Gomez's other ventures include a clothing line, a handbag line, a fragrance line, and a production company named July Moonhead Productions. She has worked with various charitable organizations and became a UNICEF ambassador at the age of seventeen. - Wikipedia

He attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford as an undergraduate from the age of 18 in 2009. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified seven-times platinum in the UK. The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.

His second studio album, x (pronounced "multiply"), was released in June 2014. It peaked at number one in the UK and the US, and was named the second-best-selling album worldwide of 2015. In 2015, x won the Brit Award for Album of the Year, and he received the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors. Sheeran's third album, ÷ (pronounced "divide"), was released in March 2017. The album debuted at number one in the UK, the US and other major markets, and was the best-selling album worldwide of 2017. The first two singles from the album, "Shape of You" and "Castle on the Hill", were released in January 2017 and broke records in a number of countries, including the UK, Australia and Germany, by debuting in the top two positions of the charts. He also became the first artist to have two songs debut in the US top 10 in the same week. By March 2017, Sheeran had accumulated ten top 10 singles from ÷ on the UK Singles Chart, breaking the record for most top 10 UK singles from one album. His fourth single from ÷, "Perfect", reached number one in the US, Australia and the UK, where it became the Christmas number one in 2017.

Biography

English pop singer Dua Lipa showcases a throwback vibe and a knack for catchy pop with soulful grit, much like Sia, Jessie J, or P!nk, and a slyly rebellious air like Charli XCX or Marina & the Diamonds. After a steady rise in the U.K., she broke onto the U.S. charts with a series of collaborations with Sean Paul, Martin Garrix, and Calvin Harris, as well as multi-platinum singles "New Rules" and "IDGAF" from her 2017 debut, Dua Lipa. In 2019, she won Grammy awards for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for her collaboration with Silk City, "Electricity."

Born and raised in London to Kosovar-Albanian parents, Lipa attended the Sylvia Young Theater School (Rita Ora, Amy Winehouse) until the age of 13, when she relocated to Kosovo with her family. However, the move wouldn't last very long, and she was back in London by age 15, living on her own and pursuing a singing career. Her first demos were released in 2012, attracting the attention of Lana Del Rey's management team, who signed her and linked her up with Emile Haynie (Lana Del Rey, Bruno Mars). Her shimmery debut single, "New Love," was followed up with the soulful "Be the One." Long-listed for the prestigious BBC's Sound of 2016, Lipa released "Hotter Than Hell" and "Blow Your Mind (Mwah)" in 2016, coinciding with a tour throughout the spring and summer. While "Hotter Than Hell" went on to break into the Top 20 in the U.K., in 2017 she earned the distinction of having three simultaneously charting singles in the U.K. Top 15 with "Be the One," "Scared to Be Lonely" with Martin Garrix, and "No Lie" with Sean Paul.

Dua Lipa, her debut full-length, arrived that summer. In addition to her previously released singles, the album included "Lost in Your Light" (a duet with Miguel) and "Homesick" (with Coldplay's Chris Martin). Since a handful of singles had already been in international rotation since 2015, the album's revived international promotional effort focused on the single "New Rules," which became another multi-platinum hit, not only rising into the Top Ten on the Billboard Hot 100 but also landing on European and Australian Top Ten lists. Eighth album single "IDGAF" followed in 2018, extending her chart presence. That summer, she teamed with Calvin Harris for the '90s club-inspired "One Kiss," which helped land Lipa another number one. Closing out the whirlwind success of this breakthrough era, she collected all these collaborative singles and bundled them with the deluxe version of her debut album as Dua Lipa: Complete Edition, which was promoted with the single "Kiss and Make Up" with K-pop girl group BlackPink.

In early 2019, Lipa won Best New Artist at the 61st Grammy Awards, also taking the prize for Best Dance Recording for "Electricity," her collaborative hit single with Diplo and Mark Ronson's Silk City project. - iTunes

Biography

Streatham, South London-born grime artist Dave (aka Santan Dave) may only have been 16 when he entered the grime spotlight, but his conscious lyrical style made him sound well beyond his years. Growing up, Dave was inspired to pursue art in some form. Taking cues from his older brothers, he initially tried his hand at animation before moving on to piano before finally settling on becoming a fully-fledged grime MC; unfortunately, his brothers would end up serving lengthy prison sentences. To cope with the drastic alteration to their lives, Dave burrowed even deeper into his music, causing him to develop a socially aware form of wordplay that set him apart from his peers. Despite starting to write bars around the age of ten, it was six years later that Dave would make his first appearance, freestyling on an underground grime channel, Bl@ckbox, in 2015. In January of the following year Dave returned with his first music video/single "JKYL+HYD," cementing his reputation for deep subject matter and ambitious lyrics. In the following months, Dave delivered two key freestyles on BBC Radio 1. The first was on Semtex's 1Xtra show and the second on Charlie Sloth's Fire in the Booth. A number of singles followed, including a standout collaboration with West London's own rising star, AJ Tracey, on "Thiago Silva." By September Dave was ready to drop his first EP, Six Paths. The release was a success in its own right, but gained even more attention when Canadian rapper Drake remixed the single "Wanna Know," bringing Dave's sound to an American audience. - iTunes
