I think it could be, if not it is right up with whatever her other highlight is.

They would be great questions to ask and the same regarding her own singles.

  • 5 months later...

I’m just listening to the album for the first time. I do know the singles .

Say Hey is the stand out track for me . This would be track one on the album for me and it should def have been a single .

Limbo also stood out , this track could have easily been on Girl!!

I’ve read online how the release strategy was a big mess in the UK. Also I don’t think the world was ready for Kylie to do anything different from what made her mega successful.

Through The Years and Jump not to memorable.

Limbo is the track that could potentially have been the track to launch the album that may have appealed to a bigger audience

than Some Kind of Bliss.

Dreams is a song I am currently listening to alot from this album.

Yes, the release was a hot mess tbh.

It had a name change due to Princess Diana pasing away so went from Impossible Princess to simply Kylie Minogue (Although it’s referred to now as Impossible Princess again). The album had multiple delays and after the lead single missed the Top 20 (Kylie’s first release ever to do so here) she was branded a flop by the media.

Breathe is the main song i listen to alot from IP i do love the album in general but i go through phases of playing it a lot then dont for a good while. I loved some kind of bliss and still do but looking back it prob wasnt the right lead single, but it was one of those songs that if it wasnt the lead single it prob couldnt be a single further down the line. It was def a bold single from kylie.

It was a disastrous era for Kylie.

Everything went wrong , the press had turned, and her music in large was ignored.

A time that brought value and lessons, as it made way for the sensational comeback.

Some kind of bliss missing the top 20 was a fairly big thing back then, especially as it was the first time it happened Kylie, when it was released i didnt in any way see that happening at all, the manic street preachers were also big at that time so the sums in my head were way off, i was gutted at its number 22 peak and how it disappeared from the charts as quick as it came. Some kind of bliss tanking set the tone for the whole album, did it again and breathe making number 14 seemed great after some kind of bliss missing the top 20 but they were never the size of hits that were needed to get the album selling. Its funny how times change as 3 top 30 hits from any album for kylie these days would be like her having 3 number 1s.

Australia really took the album to their hearts and the album had a good performance in that market.

The album brought an awareness to her talent of song writing and the era made Kylie question what she wanted and also where her place in music was.

There are numerous positives from the album apart from some wonderful songs.

Did I never do this?

Yep - 1 is least, 13 is best

Breathe is usually very popular and I dont think I saw anyone rate it last before, plus it's one of my fave overall songs from Kylie. It is a song I understand why some dont like. I'm like that with Confide in me I just cant get into the song at all. I dont need anyone I love aswell but this and some kind of bliss go hand in hand as they are both on a similar path sound wise and both have that manic st preachers sound to them
I adore ‘Breathe’ - a definite overall favourite from Kylie for me, in terms of IP all of the songs are 10/10 for me, I think it’s a flawless album.

Breathe is a heavenly relaxing song.

It is very easing to both the ears and mind.

A song that was deserving of much greater levels of success than it achieved.

Sadly, it is an unknown single to many.
