His questionably ethical strategies (not exclusively his of course, he's just the latest grifter) are still permeating the Tory party. Bit of a wrong thread to link it in but there's a great Guardian article going around about how Tory candidates have been issued documents of false/misleading smears to use against the party closest to them in their constituency.

When an aide to Gordon Brown did something similar outside an election campaign he was forced to resign very quickly. That was despite the fact that the memo concerned made it very clear that all the "allegations" were completely made up. It was along the lines of "Wouldn't it be wonderful if William Hague was found in bed with a twelve-year-old?".
