Posted November 14, 200618 yr From UKMIX :o http://mjjgallery.free.fr/london111406/guiness.jpg Michael Jackson today (in London): http://img460.imageshack.us/img460/2483/mjyr3tj9.th.jpg Holy c**p :o I thought it only sold between 40-60m, i'm thinking it includes singles sales as well  Still bloody amazing though :o
November 14, 200618 yr Jesus :o It's extimates were always 40-46million Easily the best selling album, but didn't Bad sell more in the UK?
November 14, 200618 yr I don't believe that figure for one minute. its in the bloody guiness book of world records, it has to be true
November 14, 200618 yr I thought Bad sold more in the UK as well. What year was Thriller released? Is there not something about albums released before the mid-80s that no-one really knows how many were sold as they weren't counted very accurately? So loads are probably under certified and others might be over- estimated? 104 million seems a bit on the high side to me but hey, what do I know? :P
November 14, 200618 yr That does seem to be unbelievably high  I always thought it was about 70 million. Good for him anyway ^_^

November 14, 200618 yr This is from the BPI website. Best selling albums in the UK. Doesn't give sales though. The UK's Bestselling Albums BEST SELLING UK ALBUMS OF ALL TIME 1. BEATLES SGT PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND 2. MICHAEL JACKSON BAD 3. DIRE STRAITS BROTHERS IN ARMS 4. OASIS (WHAT'S THE STORY) MORNING GLORY 5. MADONNA IMMACULATE COLLECTION 6. ABBA GOLD 7. SIMPLY RED STARS 8. QUEEN GREATEST HITS 9. MICHAEL JACKSON THRILLER 10. SHANIA TWAIN COME ON OVER LAST UPDATED – July 2006
November 14, 200618 yr Checked BPI website. Thriller is cerified 10x Platinum in the UK (3 million sales). Could it really have sold 101 million in the rest of the world? Hasn't the UK got quite a large % share of the music market? Not sure about the 104 million figure tbh. But hey, fair play to the guy if he has sold that amount.
November 14, 200618 yr Well 80 weeks in the American Top 10 has to be A LOT of sales? Hmmm not sure tbh.
November 15, 200618 yr that picture's totally photoshopped no album has ever sold anywhere near that many ever this is what the eight plaques he picked up were for (according to someone else on UKMIX): "Michael Jackson has picked up eight world record certificates in London. (...) The 48-year-old was presented with record certificates from the past 25 years of his career. The awards included: The Most Successful Entertainer of All Time; Youngest Vocalist to Top the US Singles Chart - aged 11, fronting The Jackson Five; and First Vocalist to Enter the US Single Chart at Number One (You Are Not Alone). The star, who has now run into financial problems, also holds the record as the First Entertainer to Earn More Than $100m in a Year and Highest Paid Entertainer of all Time (125 million dollars in the 1989 Forbes List). His other records were First Entertainer to Sell More Than 100 Million Albums outside the US, Most Weeks at the Top of the US Album Charts (non-soundtrack for Thriller) and Most Successful Music Video (Thriller)." November 15, 200618 yr That's definitely a joke,60 million at the very most I've heard recently. No way has any album sold 100 million.
November 15, 200618 yr Thriller is certified as 27 million in the US, 104 million don't seem right, I'd say 60 million max!
November 15, 200618 yr Author I don't think it's photoshopped -_- It was also announced a few weeks back on the MJ 'All Access hollywood' special that Thriller has sold over 100 million. It seems far to high, it has definatly sold over 54 million apperently in 1998 so most likely 60 million now. But if you add all the singles sales and maybe they added the massive succes of the Thriller video as well or something

Apperently it was awared 13x Platinum ~ July 1992 and has sold almost 4 million in the UK. Bad that is ^_^ Thriller has apperently sold 3.3 and is now on 11x platinum
