The Little Mix song is beyond average and their label spent a lot of money on getting Bounce Back playlisted twice.

 

I'm guessing Little Mix xmas song was done on the cheap in the hope it would naturally catch on rather than the label pay for its success.

Ooh, TikTok is developing some taste, I already know and love that Don Toliver song as well (was a #2 hit on my personal chart earlier this year, he's a Travis Scott protégé, sounds a bit like Akon lol).

 

Looking forward to Spotify being difficult to follow for the next 3 and a half weeks though xx (but yay The Pogues in the top 10 x)

 

I always get a big comedown when songs like Someone You Loved are top 5 with 250k streams in the first week of January lol

Yeah it was never a single, it’s never appeared on her albums and she didn’t even make a video for it. It’s only ever been featured on compilation albums.

 

It's pretty much a staple considering it never got an official release, usually sells fairly well each December and gets some airplay. If it got an official release video it would have been in the top 5 back then easily.

Well done Lewis and Billie for this year. Next decade will give a good outlook into the overall 10 years as a decade ago iTunes ruled.

Kind of surprised that 'Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent' is above 'No.6 Collaborations Project' considering they have fairly similar overall sales for the year and I would have thought Ed would have a higher proportion of streaming sales.

When streams are converted into sales for the album chart the top 2 songs are weighted down aren't they to the average of the other songs. So given how massive Someone you loved has been if the most streamed albums of 2019 just refers to total streaming numbers not sales that would advantage Lewis.

Yes, Ed's opening streaming figures were higher than Lewis' too, but given the sharper declines in pure sales after the opening weeks, the fact Lewis is still ahead overall suggests his album has had more streams over time.

Doesn't really surprise me overall, he's seemed a lot bigger this year overall even if he's had a more conventional singles release schedule.

The song has been in the news again today for controversial reasons (some radio DJ deciding he's going to stop playing it because of the lyrical content) so that may help keep it up too (though it most likely won't have a noticeable effect).

I think when there's less of a surge for songs overall the U.K. Centric hits rise a little as their playlists have more prominence.

I really like Mabel's Christmas song, and it's doing pretty well on iTunes. It's a shame the Festive Spotify playlists haven't updated for weeks, because she probably would have done pretty well, but is instead doing nothing.
