'Mocking It' a good follow-up to 'Your Mrs' this was for me. 'Middle Child' that was in my EOY countdown. 'Fashion Week' a good tune from them just missing out on my End of Year Top 40.

Bad Behaviour easily gets Mabel her highest position in my EOY countdowns. This song certainly ends on a high. The outro is honestly my favourite part of the song and it gets me hyped up and then I'm expecting the song to go to another level but instead it just end. Pretty ironic for a line in it to be "I don't mean to tease ya"! I've got tickets to see her next month and I'm very excited.

I'm obviously a fan of this; it's ending up at #26 in my EOY chart but it in no way deserved 5 weeks at the top. The last 3 weeks were almost by default as it was a quiet spot in my chart and when it fell from #1, it fell fast. As you can probably tell from her chart history here, I've never really been much of a fan of Miley but after hearing her at One Love Manchester, I do have a lot of respect of her talent. Lana gets her 2nd appearance after a 6 year wait but it cannot quite match up to Summertime Sadness. Ariana has 4 more to come.

Tyler has said that this was not meant to be his track and he offered it both to Justin Bieber & Rihanna but they declined it. I find this so shocking because I really cannot hear anyone but Tyler singing it. He doesn't have the best voice but I think that suits this song down to a t and makes it feel raw and, in turn, more impacting and emotional. I'm not sure what Carti's verse is all about but it's fun and somehow fits with the rest of the song. Charlie Wilson's vocals really give the song another dimension too. He is the King of adding his vocals to an RnB track and taking it to another level.

I was very happy to see this become J Hus's highest peaking single as it's by far the best thing he's ever released for me. The 2nd verse in particular is fire and its by far his catchiest hook. It looks like he spent his time in jail very well. This would have been a shoe-in for top 15 at least had it been released earlier in the year.

The whole release of this song was an absolute mess, from the video being delayed by 2 weeks, with no announcement, because the editor hadn't sent over a final copy yet to performing Women Like Me at the BRITS instead of this, which really hampered it's chances of any chart success. I'm not sure Ty was necessarily the best choice for a feature but he does a solid, no thrills job. I can't listen to the outro without thinking that they're singing to their Nans though :lol:

Another appearance for Ariana in what was a stellar year for her. The vocals mix really well together here and its a cute song, very deserving of its 2 weeks atop my chart. Seeming that they opened the Sweetener tour I was hoping for them to join Ariana on stage to perform Boyfriend but, alas, that never happened. This has one of the best videos of the year with the return of Ariana's boobs being able to shoot things, this time heart lasers, previously last seen in the Break Free video :lol: I also enjoy the Mortal Kombat-esque fatality delivered by Mikey from Social House.

I really liked 'Lose You To Love Me' when it was released (and love it even more now) but when this came out the day later, it really hit me. The song is so upbeat and reminded me of Come & Get It. It done incredibly well to hit #1 in a packed week which included Kanye's album, AJ Tracey's deluxe edition and a strong climber from Summer Walker. I've fallen back in love with since the release of Rare and wish I ranked it higher now :(

Despite Camila's multiple entries, winning the race for the highest placed ex-Fifth Harmony member track of 2019 is Normani. This track also made her the 3rd member to get a solo #1 (Camila has 5 and Lauren Jauregui has 1). It's difficult to talk about this song without mentioning the video where Normani really shines. It almost feels like a throwback video where the emphasis is on a dance routine and, my god, does she smash it. If she ever decides to end the music, she could easily get any dancing job she wanted. But to focus solely on the video would give the song an injustice. It's a non-stop, high-octane thrill from start to finish. Thank you to the co-writer Ariana Grande for giving it to Normani because it suits her so perfectly.

This was one of two occasions where J. Cole was denied his first #1 in my chart due to another track from the same album (see also Dreamville). He's now by far the most successful artists in my charts not to hit the top spot so I would be shocked if he doesn't get one by this time next year. Especially is he does release a new album this year. I do hope the news that Cole will no longer do features isn't true because we'll then be denied gold dust like this verse. 21 also provides a very good contribution. His best verse might actually be the one that is exclusive to the video and doesn't appear on the album. Thank god for the fact that 21 Savage is British (he apparently got the name because he was such a fan of So Solid Crew's 2001 smash hit) :lol:. Not only because it was my favourite news story of the year but the controversy allowed this to enter the top 40 to become his first entry as lead credit after Bank Account cruelly stalled at #41/

This is, by far, Stormzy's best of the year for me and won me back over after I was slightly disappointed with Vossi Bop. The song takes the best elements from Blinded By Your Grace, Pt. 2 and combines it with the top-notch rapping of his more underground hits. The combination of Stormzy's emotive but limited vocals and the orchestral singing in the background in the chorus is heavenly and paired with the unrelenting delivery of the verses really is the best of both worlds. This is one I really cannot wait to hear on tour!

Another of my favourite artists drops out and this time it's Watsky with his highest placement since 2016. This is a really nice song to listen to and shows a different side to Watsky than what's been saw before. Mainly due to the fact this song is almost 100% sung with very little trace of any rapping. It's also has an apt title as it is very emo, especially when paired with the video but he pulls it off. I wouldn't mind more music like this from him in the future. It sounded so good during tour as well as it really gave off a different vibe to the proceedings than the rest of the show.

This was the debut single for Blackpink back in 2016 so it seemed the perfect place to start when I decided to go back and check out their older music after I loved Ddu-Du, Kiss & Make Up & Jennie's solo-hit 'Solo'. As you can see in it's chart run, it took a few weeks to hit me but it definitely did in the end. It also reached #2 in the chart after their show because it was probably the song they performed the best. It was certainly the one that produced the best atmosphere with the whole crowd hyped and singing along. This is pretty much the best debut I can imagine a k-pop artist doing; it's incredibly in-your-face with a bold instrumental which fits in perfectly with the stereotypes associated with the genre and really gives each member a chance to shine. It's probably the favourite Jennie part of any song they've done so far.

When I first saw this was blowing up, I hadn't heard of either of the artists and assumed it was a dance track so when I finally heard it I was very pleasantly surprised indeed. Ironic seeming that this has a much more danceable beat than any of this year's actual 'dance' hits. Listening to it now, I can't believe I didn't rank it higher, it still gets me pumped up every time I listen to it. It was probably hindered by being a very early 2019 hit and the fact it's chart run was damaged by Ari's Thank U. Next album release. Let's just pretend I ranked this top 10 ok?

The first time I listened to 'Ignorance Is Bliss' and I got to this track and the outro kicked in might be my favourite musical moment of 2019. The whole song gets you excited by containing a sample of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 'Murder On The Dancefloor' so by the time it gets to the outro and it just plays the chorus of that song you're ready to explode. This whole song is just incredibly fun, Skepta's verses are great, B Live's verse is hype and Cheb Rabi's chorus is weird but strangely endearing. This song was very deserving of becoming Skepta's first ever #1 in my chart.

This is the absolutely perfect way to end the Dreamville album. It's a long album so you're already a bit tired and emotional by the end and then J. Cole's verse happens. You won't often hear me describe a Cole song as beautiful but this most certainly is. He concludes the song with an ode to his wife and used the opportunity to announce that she is pregnant with their second child. The song is very reflective in a way that a lot of the biggest rap hits aren't. I enjoyed Chance's album but this is the proper way to make a song about your wife without putting off your audience. This is a very deserving song to get J. Cole his highest ever finish in my EOY charts. The video makes it that even more stunning by being featuring Earthgang member Olu's mother and serves as a tribute to his late father.
