One thing I've noticed whilst compiling my Top 100 this year is that the lack of Top 10 hits has meant that a lot of lower-peaking songs have made it in and hence get a bit of the spotlight, which is actually quite nice to see. Here is the first of these, the highest peaking Hot Chip single to date and a very good song to return to. Unfortunately its chart run is one of the many which has been thwarted by Eurovision in one way or another - it could easily have spent another 5 or so weeks in the Top 40 otherwise. And finally to note that the music video hardly showcases the song at all, it's just a sketch with the song playing a bit in the background

I've had a fairly rocky relationship with LVNDSCAPE over the past few years. Those of you around in 2017 will no doubt remember the record 1-31 drop In My Mind got after I switched up how I compiled my charts, and more recently he decided to absolutely destroy Down Under with a cover that I genuinely can't imagine anyone enjoying. However, he has somewhat redeemed himself with this very relaxed tropical bop that we really need to see more of - it's got everything I like in it, and is well deserving of a position in the Top 100.

The Interrupters were one of those acts I had pegged down completely as a one-hit-wonder in my charts, so when they released a second song which was actually as good as the first one and maybe even a little bit better I was fairly shocked. This is once again a fab little indie piece, maybe a few years behind its time but that's by no means a bad thing! I don't think they've released anything since this but I'lll certainly keep my eye out.

The lowest-peaking song in my Top 100, I always felt a little bad about the chart run this song got as I've always thought about how it could just as easily have been #1 in my chart, but unfortunately it was thwarted by Eurovision on one of the weeks where it would have registered quite a big climb. It still remains a really powerful song and I[m hoping that its inclusion here is providing a little bit of justice. (in fact I think this is even higher than Young & Wild was in the EOY a few years ago oops)

A rare Latin song appearing in my chart, this is from a childhood favourite artist, DJ Bitman, with some very tropical South American vibes that I loved. This is very different and more on the Latin trend but is still incredibly catchy, sticking in my head for ages (and I've got no idea what this song's about so let's hope it's something sane). And no, I can't type the name of the featured artist without directly looking at it either.

Now here's a song I completely forgot existed until I started compiling my EOY, but it was one of my favourite songs from early on in the year, some very smooth-flowing beats and synth with the fab vocals that this group always bring out. Their release pattern seems to have been a bit random as of late but looking forward to hearing something new from another act from my childhood.

The last time M-22 were in my Top 10 (or even in my Top 40), they were a complete unknown and were yet to have any chart success officially or otherwise. After that, they released a lot of summer anthems at times of year which weren't summer, meaning that I could never fully get on board with them. Finally, in August 2019, they managed to release one at the right time of year, and what a tune it is. It starts off with a sort-of garage-esque beat, before quickly moving on to a brilliant club/house style, accompanied by Kiara's amazing vocals. It did peak early but that was due to the summer being over so is certainly deserving of a position in the Top 100.

The third song in a row with no official commentary, this was Mans' first release in three years, so this felt like a big deal to finally have some new music. It's such a Euro-centric song, with a tune and vocals which made us all love him in the first place, and Dotter's part (I really should pay more attention to her career) is good as well. The song itself reminds me of walking in the countryside around Centre Parcs which is a lovely memory. Sadly it seemed to wear off fairly quickly, however it is still a brilliant track, and whilst Better Now is considerably more catchy, this is more what Mans is about.

Being perfectly honest, when I first heard this song on the radio my reaction was 'ooh, I wonder which producer he's collaborated with now?' and was quite surprised to find that he now actually has a solo career of his own again instead of travelling round Europe featuring on my favourite DJ's tracks. It made me a tad disappointed, but I think I'm so used to his voice now that I actually quite like the guy, and this song is certainly very reminiscent of the mellow European guitar-y dance that I love. He still has another appearance as a feature on a European producer's song to come though ;)

The first of four Eurovision tracks in this Top 100, when he performed this initially I didn't think too much of it (other than 'oh he's a man?' after his postcard where he looked very female) but it grew on me a lot over the coming week, becoming my second favourite behind Sebi. Unfortunately it didn't stick around as long as some other tracks and apparently he released a follow-up 6 months ago that I didn't notice but it's still well deserving of its place here.

So we go from a song in Eurovision to a song which was denied a new peak by the onslaught of Eurovision entries. American producer shallou got an +18 from me Budtar's 'Count On', but before that he had a long-running Top 40 hit in my chart with this really relaxed and soulful song. I would probably say it's not the type of thing I would usually like but my style has changed so much that it probably is, either way it's certainly worth a listen.

The first single from the HERE WE GO! album, when I first heard this my first thought was that the chorus sounded very similar to 'Bad Reputation' by Avicii, however it was still catchy. It's a brilliant pop track and very cheery-uppy like the rest of the album, however it did wear a little thin over time. Another song to add to their impressive chart history anyway!

It did sort-of feel like Youngr had faded into the back of my mind after a few bad singles with the memory of long-running hit 93 in the back of my mind, however he came back with a really well-constructed track here in Superman. And you can all breathe a sigh of relief as you notice a song you actually recognise in my countdown! And then collectively groan as you realise that this is the second-highest Top 20 hit in my EOY this year. This is such a brilliantly-constructed and catchy track, and one I loved from first listen. Even listening back now it's still such a good song and its single week in the Top 10 doesn't really do it justice. Here's to more good songs in the charts!

The third song in a row to have spent a solitary week in the Top 10, when I was searching through my Personal Charts to find this it really struck me how many songs called 'The River' have made it into my chart  This was AURORA's first hit in my chart, however its peak came after her bigger hit had already hit the top spot. It is a brilliant song in its own right though, like a lot of her back catalogue. Such a shame she'll only ever be remembered for a John Lewis ad and for wailing a bit on that Frozen song :(

Had a skim through your chart so far and 'The River' sounds like the best from what I've not heard already.

I liked 'Here With Me' a bit although it fell off fast and won't be making my EOY.

'After Hours' didn't hit with me as much as M-22's other tracks, so basically the opposite to how they've performed in your chart.

And we resume out countdown with yet another song that managed just a single week in my Top 10 :o Stafanie's 'On Fire' was released in 2015 just before my Personal Chart began (it would most certainly have made it in otherwise) but I completely forgot about her existence until I discovered this. It's such a cheery uplifting pop tune, reflecting how people look beautiful the way they are (it does focus on daughters but I guess boys don't wear that much make-up so fair enough). Give it a listen, I promise you'll have it stuck in your head!

The first (I think?) BJSC entry within my Top 100, this is an absolutely fabulous twangy-guitar (I'm sure there's a specific genre this first into but I can't for the life of me remember what it is) piece with a funky tune and iconic lyrics such as 'of all the creatures in the sea, my favourite is the bass'. Thi ssadly just missed the Top 10 but proved itself to be a long-running hit (and apparently they've been releasing songs all year that I've not noticed so that's where I'm off now).
