February 17, 20205 yr There's something so sad about the fact Nadine went on I'm A Celebrity to millions of people and had to get slimed, eat kangaroo anus and hold cockroaches in her mouth to finish fifth place and then kill any momentum/popularity by releasing a terrible song 7 weeks after her elimination that once again failed to chart.....and Nicola's album returning to the top 40 on iTunes and generating tons of buzz and praise on social media (just look at how many 'she was always the best singer in Girls Aloud' comments there are) by winning a new, extremely popular ratings smash talent show. For about a month and a half Nadine was the most relevant member of the group and she did nothing to take advantage of it and now her reality TV effort has been completely eclipsed by Nicola who actually won her show and made a great impression with her vocals (whereas Nadine got slaughtered for her singing on I'm A Celeb). Sigh.

Sigh. Honestly, it was highly unlikely that Nadine's music career was going to get a major boost following a stint on I'm a Celebrity. Fleur East managed a 1 week Top 100 hit off the back of her time on the show. All That I Know's quality is subjective; quite frankly Nadine could have released something akin to Physical by Dua Lipa and probably done about the same? There's too many factors that stand against an artist like Nadine being a chart force. I'm sure she has sensible expectations, and so should we. For what it's worth, Nadine appeared to win over a lot of the public who found her to be an abrasive personality prior to the show, showing that she is down to earth and amusing. Nadine most likely took part for the pay cheque and to raise her profile... and she has, she's booked and busy! TV and press interviews, she performed at G-A-Y. Her latest song not doing much doesn't completely undo goodwill towards Nadine in other areas, and neither does Nicola winning a different show. The snapshot of comments you see on social media doesn't represent everybody. Some negative comments about Nadine's singing on I'm a Celebrity doesn't mean that millions of people watching all thought the same thing. I saw plenty of praise towards her vocals too! It was a brief clip of her singing karaoke, if some people dismissed her based on that... whatever! It's really nice that there's people commending Nicola's vocals and thinking she's the best Girls Aloud singer. I'm sure many still think that of Nadine too. There's room for both of them to be praised. Nicola has great feedback in the here and now, however the impact of this show and her win will be yesterday's news before we know it (just like we all move on from I'm a Celebrity once the season is over). The public will soon be focusing on another TV event. When it comes to what Nicola gains from her winning: she has raised her profile and has achieved exposure for her upcoming stint in the West End (a role she secured before The Masked Singer). Hopefully she'll release new music but as things stand it doesn't seem like an imminent prospect. While it's nice to see that Cinderella's Eyes managed Top 30 on iTunes, it doesn't really represent all that much because album download sales are extremely low. Why should we pit the two of them against each other anyway? Let's be happy that both women are doing nicely for themselves, 18 years into their career. There's sadly lots of ex members of pop groups who gradually fade away from the public eye, but neither Nadine or Nicola have done, so as fans we should celebrate that.
February 18, 20205 yr Nicola is for most, the least talked about member of the group and i think it helped make her stand out now. This show was a perfect match for Nicola and i am ever so delighted she won it and got to showcase her voice.
