Biography

Queen are a British rock band formed in London in 1970. Their classic line-up was Freddie Mercury (lead vocals, piano), Brian May (guitar, vocals), John Deacon (bass guitar), and Roger Taylor (drums, vocals). Their earliest works were influenced by progressive rock, hard rock and heavy metal, but the band gradually ventured into more conventional and radio-friendly works by incorporating further styles, such as arena rock and pop rock.

Before forming Queen, May and Taylor had played together in the band Smile. Mercury was a fan of Smile and encouraged them to experiment with more elaborate stage and recording techniques. He joined in 1970 and suggested the name "Queen". Deacon was recruited in March 1971, before the band released their eponymous debut album in 1973. Queen first charted in the UK with their second album, Queen II, in 1974. Sheer Heart Attack later that year and A Night at the Opera in 1975 brought them international success. The latter featured "Bohemian Rhapsody", which stayed at number one in the UK for nine weeks and helped popularise the music video format.

The band's 1977 album News of the World contained "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions", which have become anthems at sporting events. By the early 1980s, Queen were one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world. "Another One Bites the Dust" (1980) became their best-selling single, while their 1981 compilation album Greatest Hits is the best-selling album in the UK and is certified eight times platinum in the US. Their performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert has been ranked among the greatest in rock history by various publications. In August 1986, Mercury gave his last performance with Queen at Knebworth, England. In 1991, he died of bronchopneumonia - a complication of AIDS, and Deacon retired in 1997. Since 2004, May and Taylor have toured under the "Queen +" name with vocalists Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert.

Estimates of Queen's record sales range from 170 million to 300 million records, making them one of the world's best-selling music artists. In 1990, Queen received the Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music from the British Phonographic Industry. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001. Each member has composed hit singles, and all four were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2003. In 2005, Queen received the Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Song Collection from the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers, and Authors. In 2018, they were presented the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. - Wikipedia

'Bohemian Rhapsody' what an absolute classic  definitely my favourite Queen song even if that's a very obvious choice!

Didn't realise this spent so long in the top 100 this year alone

Biography

The Killers are an American rock band formed in Las Vegas in 2001 by Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards, bass) and Dave Keuning (lead guitar, backing vocals). The current lineup of the band was completed when Mark Stoermer (bass, rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion) joined in 2002. The band's name is derived from a logo on the bass drum of a fictitious band portrayed in the music video for the New Order song "Crystal".

The band has released five consecutive chart-topping studio albums: Hot Fuss (2004), Sam's Town (2006), Day & Age (2008), Battle Born (2012) and Wonderful Wonderful (2017). They have also released a B-sides and rarities compilation, Sawdust (2007); a live album, Live from the Royal Albert Hall (2009); a greatest-hits album, Direct Hits (2013); and a Christmas compilation, Don't Waste Your Wishes (2016).

The Killers are one of the biggest rock bands of the 21st century, and the most successful act to ever emerge from Nevada. They achieved worldwide success as a live band, performing in over 50 countries and on six continents, headlining venues such as Madison Square Garden, Wembley Stadium and Glastonbury Festival (2007 and 2019). - Wikipedia

Biography

Describing their sound as "deep house with a shot of tequila," Los Angeles-based Canadian duo Loud Luxury make bright, ecstatic dance-pop with wistful lyrics, inspired by Disclosure, the Weeknd, and Calvin Harris. Andrew Fedyk and Joe Depace met as students in London, Ontario and began making music together in 2012. They began posting remixes and original tracks online, and within a few years they had gained support from tastemaking DJs such as Tiësto and Oliver Heldens. They moved to Los Angeles in 2015 and began touring more extensively, opening for artists like Arty and Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. A collaboration with Borgeous titled "Going Under" was released in 2016, followed by "Fill Me In" and "Show Me," both issued by Tiësto's AFTR:HRS imprint. They also garnered attention with their remix of Martin Garrix's "Scared to Be Lonely," as well as their single "Body" (featuring brando), which was issued by Armada Music in 2017 and charted in both the United States and Canada. - iTunes

Biography

Birmingham-based grime MC Mist rose out of the mid-2010s grime resurgence, proving that you don't have to be from London to be taken seriously in U.K. rap circles. Mist, like most grime artists, started out by dropping numerous mixtapes and freestyles, which very quickly started racking up millions of views online. Although Mist's lyrics contained well-worn tropes concerning making money and life on the streets, he also delivered very honest bars about the loss of his parents and how his life changed as a result. During his early career, Mist collaborated with fellow Birmingham resident and producer Shadow, who would create languid yet melodic beats for Mist to navigate. In 2016, Mist really began to break through; early in the year he stepped up to Fire in the Booth, a renowned feature on Charlie Sloth's BBC Radio 1Xtra show. The end of the year saw the release of the M I S to the T EP, which featured two standout singles "Karlas Back" and "Ain't the Same." 2017 found Mist embarking on a U.K.-wide tour, including stops at Koko, London, and Manchester O2 Ritz. - iTunes

How Do You Sleep was alright, not offensive but I much preferred Dancing With a Stranger

So High another non-essential rap track, didn't deserve to be so big. Plus Secondcity utilised the sample way better on I Wanna Feel.

Biography

Multi-instrumentalist and singer/songwriter Tom Walker blends hip-hop-inspired beats, eclectic samples, and traditional songwriting in his music. Born in Scotland and raised in Manchester, England, Walker grew up listening to Ray Charles, the Police, and Bob Marley from his father's record collection, and taught himself how to play drums, guitar, piano, and bass. After studying songwriting at London's College of Contemporary Music, Walker began making music in earnest, collaborating with his housemates -- who included members of Whilk & Misky -- in their home studio. One of his songs, 2016's "Sun Goes Down," interpolated the '30s work song "I'll Be So Glad When the Sun Goes Down" and featured poet/musician Kojey Radical. The track earned acclaim and airplay on Radio 1, and Walker signed to Relentless soon after. His official debut single, "Fly Away with Me," arrived later that year. The Blessings EP was released in April 2017, along with a pair of singles, "Heartland" and "Leave a Light On." Walker started working with producer Mike Spencer on his debut album soon after, putting together 12 tracks of impeccably produced soulful, contemporary pop. Preceded by the singles "My Way" and "Angels," the album What a Time to Be Alive -- which took its title from the track "Blessings" -- was issued in late 2018. - iTunes

After opening shows in the U.K. for Gavin James earlier in the year, she made her headlining debut in May 2017.
