I didn't know it but just read that Perez has back-up from a Mexican billionaire, so has the funds that Russell hasn't

not sure if Latifi has funds too

Also read about this Mazepin, whose father is also another billionaire so he'd either buy a team and force his son on it

or buy a seat for his son in some other team

if Stroll wasn't feeling well and eventually was corona, couldn't he have potentially infected many people?

Am I right in thinking that Mazepin doesn't yet have enough points for a Super Licence?

The FIA has introduced a new rule allowing it to grant a superlicence to race in Formula 1 even if a driver has just three-quarters of the required points.

Since 2016, the FIA has only granted a superlicence to drivers who accrue 40 points through a weighted system depending on their success in junior categories.

But the governing body confirmed earlier this year that it was planning to review the system in light of the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which shortened a number of seasons and compromised a number of drivers' campaigns.

In the latest update to the FIA's International Sporting Code, a number of tweaks to the superlicence system were confirmed, including increased ability to grant a superlicence.

Drivers can now be granted a superlicence so long as they have scored 30 points in the championships, and are "judged at the sole determination of the FIA as unable to qualify" normally "due to circumstances outside their control or reasons of force majeure".

Any superlicence requests by drivers looking to meet this criteria will require approval from the FIA's World Motor Sport Council.

A driver can score 30 points by finishing fourth or higher in F2, or by winning the F3 championship.

last I heard Mazepin wanted to buy Haas

That superlicence rule change would benefit Mazepin then?

Not saying daddy bought off the FIA, but if it quacks like a duck....

Yep even though Russell has a contract with Williams for next year there's talks of replacing him with Perez who will bring in a lot of funding.

I think we all know that contracts don't seem to mean much in F1

Perez to williams makes sense. I could see him at Haas too if it wasn't for their hyperbole about building for the future - which usually means rookies they want to keep for a few years but with Haas honestly who knows.

just read Mazepin will drive a Haas next year
That’s a shame. Would’ve like to see Perez there but I expect he’ll be at Williams. Haas really should be looking at Colton Herta though.

Good race, really enjoyed, especially the start with Sanz leading

for me the top 3 in this race: Hamilton, Sanz and Leclerq

the bottom 3: Albon, at his worst, I'd remove him from the team asap, he started 6th and didn't even come close to top 10

Kyviat, much much worst than Gasly

Stroll, his worst race ever, De la Rosa called him a "kart rental driver" and nailed it

Is there anything more Bottas than being first in literally every single session except the 2 that count? Valterri Bottlejob.

Start was insane, Sainz leading was crazy but sadly wasn't to last. Perez did an amazing drive considering he was taken out.

I have to agree re Albon, he's actually doing even worse than Gasly was last year which is impressively awful. Whoever sits in that second seat is f***ed as long as Red Bull have their hand up Verstappen's ass. Poisoned chalice and the team know that. They'll never be competing with Merc for constructors title.

Driver of the day was Leclerc. He finished 4th in the seventh fastest car on the grid.

It's really sad that Russell has one foot out of the F1 cos of lack of funds but Latifi is guaranteed a seat

while doing absolutely nothing all season, not even a remote spark of quality in either qualifying or in races

Time has proven that Gasly was demoted too quickly from RedBull and he's much better than Albon and Kviat

Haas are set to apparently announce their line-up during the Portuguese Grand Prix.

Safe to say that didn't happen, sorry guys.

but isn't Mazepin confirmed for next year in Haas?
Yeah Mazepin confirmed I believe which would leave one of Schumacher or Ilott to fill the other seat if they're going for youth over experience. Personally I'd have Perez/Hulkenberg with a rookie but who knows with Steiner.

Stroll was appallingly bad this weekend. A lot was said about how he'd improved a lot and was doing better than Perez when the lineup announcement was made, but he's now 17 points and 4 places behind having started one more race.

Another race I overall enjoyed. The individual races this season seem to have entertained me a lot more than has been usual recently, just a shame about the predictability of the Championship overall.

Stroll had a shocker agreed but let's not forget the 2 races before the one he missed he retired from both completely weren't his fault. Mugello in particular I think he was on for 4th or 5th before the puncture. Not saying he deserves the seat over Perez but I also don't think it was a no brainer between the two.

Also agree on your second point. Both this year and last year the races themselves have mostly been great. It's a reminder that the championship doesn't need to be close for it to still be a thrilling season. 2010, 2012 & 2016 for example had super close title fights but there weren't too many memorable races imo.
