It's exactly the type of slasher horror that we don't get anymore. Just really good fun (??!) and not taking itself seriously, but seriously enough to not become a parody. The kid is such a fantastic little actor! Really enjoyed it. Surprisingly!" --- 17. Spider-Man: Far From Home ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nt9L1jCKGnE My Letterboxd Review: "I enjoyed this. Didn't love it, but it was good. It was v slow (although good) for the first hour and a half or so, but things picked up a lot soon after. Tom Holland is one of the best actors today. The emotion just pours out of him and he is incredibly likeable. Zendaya is just as magnificent as ever as MJ! I love her so much. But yeah. It was good, not great. Enjoyable Superhero flick. Think they went a bit too much with the teen romance side of things, but the parts that needed to work (i.e. Peter & MJ) worked excellently." *I've rewatched this since writing my review and enjoyed it more each time I watched it* --- 18. The animation in particular, was stunning. The main drawbacks for me was the forced use of Let It Go/throwbacks to the first film, they were cute but felt a bit shoehorned in at times and the songs aren't as instant as the first movies songs, but I am fully prepared to be belting out every single one in a couple of weeks!" --- 20. Pet Sematary ⭐⭐⭐1/2 zK0LNzU2TQI My Letterboxd Review: "It was true enough to the original and had a couple of very well placed jumps, but the thing that lets it down slightly is that it felt a little rushed compared to the original which felt the story ran a bit smoother. January 6, 20205 yr I'm surprised you liked Child's Okay and Pet Semetary so much! I found both of them really dull  Child's Play was okay I guess.
January 6, 20205 yr Author As a non-WWE fan, I completely agree with your statement! Wasn't planning on seeing this at all, but rented it while I was off sick from work and absolutely loved it. Became one of my favourite films of the year. I really didn't like this one though  The fact that Elton John was so heavily involved in making it led me to think they were trying to portray him in a positive light, but I just didn't find him likeable in the slightest. Plus I don't really like his songs...not sure why I went to see it at all actually... I was really disappointed with this. Unlike Aladdin, this was literally a shot by shot remake of the original and just felt like a massive cash-grab from Disney. You're right about Eichner and Rogen - up until their appearance, I was genuinely bored - but in contrast, I absolutely loathed Beyonce and John Oliver. Oliver especially grated on me and I wish they'd just got Rowan Atkinson back instead. I know what you mean - whilst it was brilliantly acted, it was a hard watch and I doubt I'd sit through it again. That said, I hope Scar Jo wins a Golden Globe for it tonight! The more I reflect on this, the more I think I enjoyed it. I might have to go and see it again! Feel a bit sorry for JJ as he had to try and please everyone after the divisive Last Jedi and, on the whole, I think he did a good job. The Emperor is my favourite character so that probably helped me enjoy it more. Finn was just such a waste of a character and they clearly had no idea what to do with him - don't know why they kept adding more female characters for him to interact with, especially when their storylines weren't going anywhere. Hated the cartoon, but actually quite enjoyed this! Might need to watch it again at some point :DI think that's why it's rated so highly. The fact it appealed to both WWE fans AND non-WWE fans. It's very British and I love that about it. I feel like your issue lies solely with Elton :kink: You see, I feel like Disney were backed into a corner with this one. Had they changed it slightly more, they'd have had a huge backlash that it was "too different. They didn't need to remake it completely. TLK is a classic" etc... but decided an almost shot for shot retelling was more suited, which I think was the right call in the end (although I regret moaning about them leaving out Be Prepared originally so when it was included in THAT way... vile.) On paper I felt Beyonce made a good Nala, but the pivotal moments were a bit "c'mon. you can show more emotion than that" but then this IS Beyonce we're talking about so... I like John Oliver as Zazu though! Yeah I'm due a rewatch. I think if you take it for what it is (a blockbuster, popcorn-filler entertaining movie) you'll be alright. I just wish that they had a plan for this trilogy and had a course of action. I think Rian (as talented as he is) changed the course a bit too much and so JJ had to try and rectify the course of action. Agreed that Finn is completely pointless. It's a shame coz he is really likeable! Aww. Dumbo (the animation) is adorable! Again, I feel like so many people were moaning about this for the sake of moaning about it. I liked the little extra story they added to pad out the film more. I think it worked and Dumbo... OMG. I need him! </3 Great countdown so far! I actually liked the second LEGO Movie. Shazam might probably be my favourite movie of the DCEU. It was originally Justice League btw OUATIH was a really good film.Thank you! :D I'm glad you liked it. I just couldn't get into it and I am really gutted that I couldn't. I love the other 3 a lot! It's up there, but kinda by default for me. Aha. I enjoyed it enough, but like I said I just wish it was a good 20-30 mins shorter as it dragged in a lot of places. OUATIH is indeed good. I wish they gave Margot more to do. </3 I'm surprised you liked Child's Okay and Pet Semetary so much! I found both of them really dull  Child's Play was okay I guess.I'm really surprised. Maybe that's why I hold them in high regard aha. I was fully expecting to hate CP and find PS "decent enough I guess", but yeah. They just worked for me. Thank you everyone for your comments so far :D

(Not inc original Jumanji ofc) It's so rewarding when you can tell that the actors and actresses involved have so much fun and are just relishing every moment themselves! Kevin Hart as Danny Glover was the highlight. SO funny. Just pure family fun entertainment, what more could you ask for tbh." --- 14. Booksmart ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Uhd3lo_IWJc My Letterboxd Review: "Enjoyed this. It felt like Mean Girls meets Superbad. Very funny at times, but also a couple of jokes fell flat a tiny bit (just like those two movies). Some of the editing felt a bit misplaced/made the pace seem a bit rushed at times, but nothing major. The cast were really good and had great chemistry, particularly the 2 leads." --- 15. Aladdin ⭐⭐⭐⭐ foyufD52aog My Letterboxd Review: "This was SO much better than my expectations were. The original Aladdin is one of my absolute favourite Disney movies. Whilst everyone else was "concerned" about the casting of the Genie, my qualms and concerns laid purely with Jafar. Arguably one of the most iconic Disney movie villains ever. However, despite it all feeling quite pantomimey and a bit drawn out/overlong (a common theme with the live action Disney movies), I absolutely loved it and was really happy with what they did with everything. Whilst, not perfect, Jafar made more sense in the context of the movie and you just have to learn to never compare. Will Smith was always a good choice for the Genie imo. Mena Massoud was a really likeable Aladdin & Naomi Scott was great as Jasmine. I adored her new song "Speechless". Basically, the trailers are lies. It makes it look so much worse than it actually is. It's really enjoyable and as faithful to the original as you can be, whilst still trying to put your own spin on it. I'm just so happy it exceeded my (admittedly ridiculously) low expectations and I worried for no reason." List: 11. The Peanut Butter Falcon ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 12. Eighth Grade ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 13. The thing that makes it better is that it wasn't reliant on and nor did it need jump scares. The only thing for me that drags it down slightly, is that it could definitely have been condensed down by about 15-20 mins for a tighter story. A lot of the scenes felt like they were plodding along a lot. The most horrific scene stars ma boi Jacob Tremblay so harrowing and just heart wrenching." --- 05. Joaquin puts in a masterclass performance and the tone is very "real" in the same way as to how The Dark Knight trilogy felt grounded in reality. A bit tough to watch at times, but the message hits hard and very, clear. Fantastic." --- And to NOBODY'S SURPRISE 01. AVENGERS: ENDGAME ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ TcMBFSGVi1c My Letterboxd Review: "*SPOILER FREE* Russo brothers are actual geniuses. We need to protect them at ALL costs. They're too precious. I've still not fully processed it. Expect a MASSIVE change of pace and tone from Infinity War. It caught me off guard constantly for the first hour or so. But after thinking about and mulling over it, it serves as the perfect companion to Infinity War. If you're an MCU fan, you're gonna need time to process everything. Go to counselling. See a therapist if you need to (preferably with Chris Evans as your guidance counsellor) all that stuff. Coz Endgame will take your breath away, whilst giving you all the nostalgic feels. THE LAST THIRD THOUGH. ERMAGAHHHHDDDD. That entire battle scene was quite possibly the greatest and nerve wrecking battle scene of all time (or at least on a par with the Battle On Wakanda from Infinity War). You might need time to process everything, but Marvel struck out ONCE AGAIN. I'm really content and super happy with the ending. They tied everything up incredibly well and.. yeah. 11 years worth of movies and they pulled the climax off in such a huge and beautiful way." List: 01. AVENGERS: ENDGAME ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 02.
