This, of course, is the problem when someone gets a reputation as a serial liar. Anything he says is immediately questioned by a large number of people. That's why we need leaders we can trust.

This is what happens when you base your own presidency on being untrustworthy. Who knows, it could be another ploy to say it was an unfair election/fix as he couldn’t get out to campaign.

Obviously my Twitter timeline isn't representative of Middle America but all I'm seeing is a whole lot of schadenfreude-filled joy. Sympathy... not so much for a president whose downplaying has caused America to have the worst virus response on the planet.

 

(I also think this is the sort of thing he'd never admit if it wasn't true, it would make him look weak, especially given how he's mocked people for getting ill in the past - Hillary with pneumonia etc)

This is why it makes more sense for him to lie and say he has it when in reality he knows he doesn’t so he will get out of that unscathed either way.

As is being said on Digital Spy, why would he make it up though as it makes him look weak if he's ill? People don't want to vote for a weak guy.

Oh yes, that's about trying to start up poll watchers again. And rather than the legitimate kind allowed by democratic rules, turning it into an 'army' implies to Republican supporters to go and intimidate minorities from voting. In this climate, if you're a black person in a white-majority area and you see a group of tough-looking white men outside the polling place, some of them armed, you might think twice about heading into the polling place.

 

(yes, and other types of campaigning too, but indeed, horrible way to phrase it, no legitimate political party in a functioning democracy would dream of calling their supporters an army)

The way COVID screws up your health permanently, particularly if you are 74 and eat unhealthily, letting the people see the potential veep in action would be probably a pretty good idea. As it is the VP debate next week will probably get a lot more attention than it would have otherwise.

 

More worried for Biden because of the last debate, the way Trump was spewing spittle all over the shop while being in the same room as Biden for almost 2 hours...

So much for explaining that he didn’t even know who the proud boys were earlier. Of course he didn’t. This act of voter intimidation is so sick, I can’t even believe that this is happening. He’s the single reason why so many racist and ignorant people around the world decided to not be silent anymore and vote for a backwards candidate.

As for Trump, fingers crossed everything comes crashing down for him, not just in the Presidency, but just generally in his life. Whole family behind bars would be ideal. But personally I suspect he'll have a heart attack or suspiciously come to a sticky end quite soon after losing the election before he can blab about all of his very special friends.

So much of what he is saying is so genuinely DANGEROUS. It’s politically expedient for him, but once the genie is out of the bottle it’s going to be so much harder to get rid of. Biden is not going to be able to “heal” the damage done.

So good I said it twice.

if he does lose there certainly is no going back to pre-2016 times. the far right had their taste of victory and they won’t be willing to give it up so easily, whatever that may entail.

Because if he overcomes it with mild to no symptoms it validates his claims that it is just amother flu and not a big deal

Global stock markets have dropped. He's not playing multi-dimensional chess y'all. He has it.
