48. Lushington - Settle Down { Vülkyria LXIII // 6} 2014

 

 

A second Vülkyria track in a row whose sound could only really come from the years 2011-2015 and takes me right back to my first and second year of uni. It was tracks like this where my pals started entrusting me with music choice at pres before making our weekly pilgrimage to Killer Kitsch at Glasgow's Buff Club lmao. Thankyou for helping me navigate early adulthood x

Two of this set are from Aeroche, including their exquisite debut, and four are from the early 10s - very representative as these two categories manage to dominate the countdown overall. I don't remember Young Galaxy doing quite so well with their incredibly wholesome 'Fall For You' as they feel overlooked, and similarly, I knew Kiddy Smile was underrated but I didn't realise such an iconic entry (and video! It's one of the best videos on here!) was an outright flop. On the other hand, iamamiwhoami's win is entirely appropriate as in 2012 we were very much at peak hipster smoothie.
