December 31, 2024Dec 31 I presume the Laufey version of 'Santa Baby' must have taken up some of the playlist space Kylie usually occupies? Also is interesting that Slade and Wizzard ended up with a bit of a recovery this year when trends are otherwise clearly towards the more American-centric hits.
December 31, 2024Dec 31 I chalked that recovery partly down to Cher and Ed/Elton falling behind them, although Slade definitely did have a noticeable bump as it was getting closer to Wizzard than usual. The crazy thing is that Wizzard wasn't in the top 60 of Christmas Hits and Slade wasn't on it at all. So their showings this year I suppose are testament to how organically popular they actually remain.
December 31, 2024Dec 31 Ed/Elton still appear above Slade and Wizzard as they had a peak of #9 for the year. (It took me a few seconds to work out why José Feliciano was 19th for the year instead of 17th - Sabrina is the other with a higher peak).

Imagine how big those hits would be with the Wham / Mariah / Ariana / Kelly treatment that spotify gives...
