February 3, 20205 yr there was an article on Billboard a year after Delirium was released saying it had sold 116K not sure how it went from there to 1 million, find it very implausible but the US have strange rules so who knows
February 3, 20205 yr but I think in the US there's like 2 different things, we have the billboard charts and there's the weekly sales, but then there's the certifications, that they include other stuff that billboard does not cos I've read it many times, people saying oh these streams count for the certifications but not for the album sales I think it's that the accumulated streams from the singles they do count for the certifications, but not for album sales, if prior to the album release the single has had 30 million streams in 6 months, of course that does not count for album sales on week 1, but it does count for certifications thats why Delirium is only on 100K per Billboard but it got a 1 million certification
February 4, 20205 yr The US uses chart sales/units for certifications just like the UK so streams are included, which is why Ellie has gone platinum. The 300k, 522k, 117k figures are pure sales but they're also a few years old, not that she would've sold much more since.
February 5, 20205 yr there was an article on Billboard a year after Delirium was released saying it had sold 116K not sure how it went from there to 1 million, find it very implausible but the US have strange rules so who knows Streams count for album ‘sales’ like they do in the UK...
February 5, 20205 yr Obviously, but if you read further posts down, I'm pretty sure cumulative streams count for certifications, so all the streams that Love me like you do has generated in its entire chart run count towards album certification, not only those after album release
