Welcome to the Britjack Awards 2020 - Buzzjack's very own version of the Brit Awards!

I thought it would be interesting to see what Buzzjack members vote as the best artists/songs/albums of the year, compared to the results of the actual Brit Awards. I've changed *some* of the nominees in an attempt to make them slightly more Buzzjack-friendly, as well as adding an 'International Group' category. However I've left the 'Song of the Year' category unchanged, since they're made up of (I believe) the top 10 selling British songs of 2019.

The eligibility rules are similar to the actual Brits i.e. the artist/album nominees have to have released an album in 2019. I'm not completely sure why Ed Sheeran wasn't eligible for any of the categories just because his album was a collaboration album but I've taken their lead on that and left him out (it's not like he needs to win any more awards anyway).

The Brit Awards will be held on the 18th Feb so if you can PM me your votes (one from each category) by that date, I'll announce the results on the following morning.

Can't believe Bring Me The Horizon and Foals have been left out of Best British Group here in favour of Stereophonics!

And as if Lana Del Rey has been taken out of the International Female category considering how much praise that album had on this forum!

Other than that, interesting idea.

put Lana back, are you crazy!! :D not taking part otherwise

magdalene snubbed in favour of 3 questionable albums

now that's shady

don't worry, everything has already been fixed by "the powers to be"

boycotted until Foals and Lana are included tbh

(D-block Europe would be an easy one to swap out, no one likes them anyway :kink:)

[Charli in the AOTY category is a wonderful choice though]

Obviously there's going to be some controversy but honestly International Female was the most difficult category to whittle down to five... so apologies to fans of Lana, Madonna, Camila and Sigrid!

With bands, I had to pick two out of Catfish, Stereophonics, BMTH and Foals to complete the five so I opted to drop BMTH and Foals, didn't actually realise Foals were that popular on Buzzjack. I suppose I could have not limited it to five per category, that was another idea I had.

My PM has been sent. :P

Not really sure what the point is in arbitrarily changing some of the nominees? :kink:

Just to make them a bit more Buzzjack friendly. I mean, who on Buzzjack was going to vote Michael Kiwanuka for Male Solo Artist? But yeah, I'm not completely sure it was the best idea but you live and learn and anyway it's just a bit of fun.

With the ten or so votes so far, the results are already starting to look quite interesting. There's a very clear winner emerging in at least three categories.
