Press conference has been brought forward to 5pm today with expectation of a national lockdown being announced.

Good news though. According to Robert Peston sources he says all non essential shops to close until 2nd Dec but Supermarkets can sell items that are non essential.

Well actually Kylie Disco album is essential so it should be stocked everywhere lol

120 HMV stores look like they will have Kylie CDs galore sitting on shelves all November 😢

Get those CDs in the supermarkets.

Remember Kylie Xmas did well in supermarkets didn't it?

If supermarkets are allowed sell CDs and take in new stock it will help casual sales in general.
I am not sure how anyone can say that if because of Covid-19 120 HMV stores will close that this could not impact Kylie sales which is made up of physicals. Those shops are still busy selling CDs and vinyls etc. A lot of people still go shopping in town centres at weekends and when they see promo etc. If every one of those stores lost just 50 purchases of Disco because of lockdown that's 6000 sales lost and many of those possibly would not go home and order and pay £3 postage and package for delivery.

Some of the bigger HMV stores (I am guessing) will sell a lot more than 100 copies a week of a new release so it's obvious to me it could impact her sales and quite substancially to the Saturday, Sunday shoppers

I worked in HMV years ago in London and an average CD album then wasn’t even touching 50 sales a week so certainly wouldn’t be now. The impact is minimal hence why is BMG’s interviews with Music Week they have become SO focused on D2C sales and do a great job of it

Yep.

All I mean is its Nov usually the high streets would be busy with people buying Xmas presents etc and this could have somekind of negative affect on the amount she could sell. But other artists too.

Especially on a big release week.

I am sure i saw some tweets from individual HMV stores that had some pre order signed Kylie CDs to be picked up and paid for in store on 6th November. I think 6 copies per store. Every sale counts in a chart battle

In better news good to see the promo coming in and hopefully it all gets a chance to happen for longevity purposes

Little Mix The Search cancelled tonight because of news briefing

They now showing semi final on Friday 6th and Final on 7th.

That will work in their favour for the album launch

But it will have an impact on album sales. You only have to look back to the album sales data during the first lockdown period to see a big decline in physical album sales and particularly in busier months of Q4 the impact is likely to be greater.

Imagine the day before you release your long awaited album your main market goes into lockdown.

Oh Kylie!

thank goodness for those pre orders and the promo that should keep it going.

It's possible BMG may push for more signed CDs to attract those online sales now they know music stores will be shut

Amazon Prime with next day delivery could work well in lockdown

iTunes also will be crucial for sales.

As will Streaming sales

Yes the decline happened a few weeks into the lockdown, not immediately as Dua and 5SOS proved, with the fact Amazon and HMV have exclusive vinyl and the recent signed CDs will lessen the potential lost sales impact as people have already ordered online (2 of my friends picked up the signed CD who were planning to stream to see if they liked it to buy it).

Release it now :o

Gosh it would be fun if they saw the midweeks on Monday and thought she could do it off pre orders haha.

Nope 6th November it is
