It seems that BMG really overestimated the demand for cassettes! They're currently a part of Townsend store's January sale. You can only add 99 copies of something to your basket, which indicates that there's more than 99 copies available - and that's still the case for Lisa, H, Lee and Faye. Only Claire is lower than that, she has 59 copies left. So at a minimum there's 455 copies left, but it could be way more.

I feel that this probably influenced the formats they decided upon for Part 2 - which had just one cassette. And incidentally that still has 99+ copies available too.

I think the novelty of cassettes is starting to fade with fans in general.

There has been a revival in the market for them in the last couple of years but no demand for cassette players.

The increase in vinyl sales has seen a revived market for vinyl players.

I never thought in a million years cassettes would make a comeback, interesting to see how long they will wait on the market this time. With vinyl I totally see why it's so popular and I'd love to see CDs grow in popularity again.
It was shy of 83,000 towards the end of December so id say 1k more at most since then with part 2 on about 40k sales.
Ya we have to be realistic with how the market it but ideally part 1 would have gone gold by itself and part 2 at least silver although both, especially part 2 deserve far more.
Yup! Still, 3 times a #2 and those sales are not bad imo. Did part 2 deserve more thought? Absolutely!
