Thanks for joining as ever guys! Hopefully a nice little look down recent memory lane for you both :)

Overal, a good album!

+ No big duds

+ The singles

+ Steps in the now without losing their original sound

+ The vocals are more divided

- Towards the end it gets a bit slower

So a 8.5/10 for me!

Thanks for hosting James and glad you joined the party FTF! It was nice to see your opinions and listen to the album again

Yes, I would agree there’s no Steptacular fails anyway!

But I don’t think there has been since they’ve returned really (certainly not from the “original” albums anyway!)

It was great reading through this thread, thanks everyone!

I may not get around to it today now unfortunately but I’ll definitely be contributing early this week.

Don’t worry! Whenever you can, always good to see additional thoughts!

Alright I've got the time, let's do this! :)

What The Future Holds:

It took a while for this to grown on me, it wasn't as instant as Scared Of The Dark. Now though? It's pretty good it's not one I regularly seek out but when I do play it I really enjoy it. I also prefer the album version to this.

Oh yes and I also think this would be sensational live!

Something In Your Eyes:

What a song, I'm convinced this would've been a #1 for them back in the 97-01 period. It's so joyous an catchy just utterly brilliant. This may be their best song since reforming.

Clouds:

I didn't like this one at first, it took a good while to grow on me. It's probably still not in my top half of the album but I do really enjoy it now which just goes to show how strong this album is. I do love the chorus to this.

To The Beat Of My Heart:

From the moment this song started I knew I'd love it. Fast paced, catchy, great chorus and all 5 get a chance to shine. What's not to love? I do wish we got a proper video with dance moves for this though. The one slight blemish on this era.

Father's Eyes:

Not a fan of this song sorry, it just doesn't hit me in the way the first four songs did. I've tried to like this more but I just can't get into it. I'm not sure what it is really.

One Touch:

The standout album track for me so far, I really like this one. The chorus is quite nice and it's very modern sounding. Whilst I don't think it would've worked as a single it's still a great track.

Under My Skin:

I'm probably one of the few that don't mind a Steps ballad, I don't love them but I can certainly enjoy them. This is one of their best in my mind. I really enjoy that they all get their time on this song and it's one I'd go back to regularly.

Heartbreak In This City:

This was instant for me when I played this for the first time, I prefer this too the single version too but that's not saying it's bad. I don't think there's much more I can really say.

Come And Dance With Me:

Probably in my top 3 album tracks from this album. I just love the chorus, so I was a little surprised to see this not as popular with other posters. Each to their own though. :)

Don't Leave Us Halfway:

Not keen on this for some reason, not sure what it is it just doesn't click with me. Not much else to say sorry.

To The One:

I like this one but there's something that feels like it's slightly off with this song. I can't quite put my finger on it.

Hold My Heart:

They're 2 from 2 with the ballads for me on this album. Both this and Under My Skin are great! It's pleasant and shows a different side to them I think.

What The Future Hols (Album Version):

Basically what I said the first time around but the extra bit add pushes it a little further ahead of the single edit for me.

Thanks for hosting this James it was great fun revisiting this cracker of an album and reading everyone's opinions.

Until next time. :)

Agree, agree and agree!

I do think that with a couple of extra set ups, this wouldn’t have made a bad little video! Sometimes, funding isn’t everything!

Yeah I know what you mean on this one… it’s just… there!

Thanks! Great I’m not the only one!

Agree, the location of the ,Utica video was fine. Just take out the lyrics, add some dance steps and a few extra scenes.

Yeah, it’s rather forgettable. I skip it occasionally when listening to the album.

So many of their singles over the last few years would have been huge hits back in the day, I know their not a singles act but I miss knowing how successful singles are with the wider public as apart from scared of the dark none of them charted. I also like them to start releasing physical formats.
