March 6, 20205 yr Author TOP TIER 1. Fugitive of the Judoon 2. Ascension of the Cybermen / The Timeless Children 3. The Haunting of Villa Diodati EXCELLENT 4. Spyfall 5. Resolution 6. Rosa STRONG 7. The Woman Who Fell to Earth 8. Can You Hear Me? 9. It Takes You Away 10. Kerblam! 11. Demons of the Punjab 12. Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror 13. The Witchfinders OKAY 14. The Ghost Monument 15. The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos 16. Praxeus DISAPPOINTING 17. Arachnids in the UK 18. Orphan 55 19. The Tsuranga Conundrum Series 12 really was such a BIG improvement on series 11. I don't even dislike the bottom few that much, but all could've done with some major tweaks to realise the potential within their storylines. That top 3 is so close too!!! Fugitive got me feeling like no Doctor Who episode has in ages - surprised, bewildered and excited, so that gives it the edge for me, but all are honestly so strong.
March 7, 20205 yr Rosa Spyfall The Haunting of Villa Diodati Kerblam! Fugitive of the Judoon Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror The Witchfinders Can You Hear Me? Ascension of the Cybermen / The Timeless Children Resolution The Woman Who Fell to Earth Demons of the Punjab The Ghost Monument Arachnids in the UK Orphan 55 Praxeus The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos The Tsuranga Conundrum It Takes You Away tbh i need a rewatch of Resolution as I've not seen it since it was first broadcast, v thankful it's included on the Series 12 boxset (even though it's been on iPlayer all this time)
March 7, 20205 yr Fugitive of the Judoon The Haunting of Villa Diodati Rosa -x- Ascension of the Cybermen / The Timeless Children Spyfall Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror The Witchfinders The Woman Who Fell to Earth Kerblam! -x- Can You Hear Me? Demons of the Punjab The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos Resolution It Takes You Away The Ghost Monument Arachnids in the UK Praxeus The Tsuranga Conundrum Orphan 55 Sadly only the top 3 are truly great, though most of the next section were very solid, I've never felt compelled to go back to much else.
March 7, 20205 yr AMONG THE GREATS 1. Fugitive of the Judoon 2. Rosa 3. The Haunting of Villa Diodati AMAZING 4. Spyfall 5. Ascension of the Cybermen / The Timeless Children 6. Demons of the Punjab 7. Kerblam! 8. Resolution GOOD 9. The Woman Who Fell to Earth 10. Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror 11. The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos 12. Can You Hear Me? 13. The Witchfinders 14. The Ghost Monument OKAY 15. Orphan 55 16. Arachnids in the UK No. 17. Praxeus 18. It Takes You Away 19. The Tsuranga Conundrum Nothing has come even close to Fugitive of the Judoon so far in this era. That episode was the first time in a very long time with Who where I was genuinely shocked, on the edge of my seat, beaming with excitement and happiness that they'd pulled off such a massive twist and I had no knowledge from spoilers, etc beforehand. Rosa is a masterpiece, and The Haunting of Villa Diodati contains so many elements of what makes the show as great as it is while introducing brand new elements at the same time. Really hope Maxine Alderton gives us more of the same in series 13. Ascension of the Cybermen / The Timeless Children suffers due to Ascension, really. I absolutely love the Cybermen parts of Ascension because it genuinely felt like they were a proper threat for the first time in however many years, but (now with the knowledge of what Brendan's scenes actually mean) far too much time was spent concentrating on the sub-plot when it could have just been a couple of scenes here and there of the Doctor's mind being played with, then showing us these Ireland scenes. The Timeless Children was great from start to finish though. Demons of the Punjab, Kerblam! and Resolution all such strong stories too. Everything else on the list, while they all have their shining moments within, aren't exactly classics.
