While we patiently wait for new music from Shawn to kick off a brand new era (assuming the next time we hear from him will be getting his fourth album off to a sparkling start), let's predict what we think the first single from the era will sound like! :o

Will it be an up-tempo masterpiece? (similar to the likes of Stitches, If I Can't Have You, etc)

Will it be more of a ballad? (still quite punchy, but more along the lines of Mercy or In My Blood)

Will it be a collaboration? (will he use some name power to grab another instant hit in the same vein as Señorita?)

I'm hoping for an uptempo song to kick off the next era! *.*

Number of weeks between his album releases:

Illuminate came out 77 weeks after Handwritten

Shawn Mendes came out 88 weeks after Illuminate

96 weeks have passed since Shawn Mendes' release

No doubt Coronavirus will push back when he's likely able to return with a fourth album... he was still working on it in February, so I suppose we have a few more months to wait!

I'd like an uptempo lead too *.* would be great to get a late summer lead perhaps, with a VMAs performance?

At this point (with what we know at the moment) it might make sense for him to come back with a late Summer banger?
  • 2 weeks later...

I think it’ll be more “experimental” but still something what has a pop hook.

I’d like something more acoustic sounding or something less produced (if that makes sense) but something where the production is more stripped back?

Seems like the general consensus here was an upbeat pop song - what does everybody think now that Wonder isn't quite what people thought he would/should have come back with?

Personally I wouldn't swap Wonder for anything, as nice as it would've been to have another all-out bop.
