Went to watch this on Saturday afternoon. It was the first time I had set foot in a cinema for 2 years (last thing I watched was Guy Ritchie's The Gentlemen).

I was so looking forward to it, but had mixed expectations because I'd not heard the most positive stuff from a couple or so people I know who had already seen in.

So... I really quite liked it. I didn't love it, but I did enjoy it. I usually don't like long movies and start to get bored after about the 1hr 45min stage, but this didn't feel like nearly 3 hours. Lady GaGa lights it up. She's a great actress and really quite beautiful. I kind of cringed at Jared Leto, but found myself chuckling at him too. It's not manic with action and there's lots of long conversations... but I still left the cinema feeling it was worth my time.

In comparison, when the credits started rolling I heard my mate next to me mumble, "Thank God for that"... so you can't please everyone.

Great to read your thoughts! I definitely think it's not for everyone. It's probably a bit "women's movie" too considering it's about fashion dynasty tumbling down. That alone and flamboyant Gaga in the lead might turn some of the male audience off, as the movie is not serious enough but not crazy comedy either.

That said, I know several straight men (critics and regular moviegoers) that have liked it too.

I've been to the cinema alone a couple of times and it is a pleasant experience. With this though, i'll be talking about it for ages so I'd want my besties to know what it's like when I talk about it

I went to see it today finally! I had a rare Monday off today and went with my mam to see it I’ve been dying to go just didn’t want to go alone  it was worth the wait. With this film as it’s based on a true story I didn’t really avoid reviews the way I did pre ASIB so I was aware of the praise of her (and some critique directed at the movie).

It was different to what I expected but I loved it and I couldn’t at all fault Gaga in any way she owned the role! I was expecting based on the story that we’d see Gaga / Patrizia be like the villain of the movie if that makes sense like I thought she’d have been portrayed as being a worse person and that as a viewer we wouldn’t like her character but she actually wasn’t that in my opinion based off the film anyways I think you kinda seen how broken down and vulnerable she was and how it made her do what she did but Gaga played her with such a human side and explored the vulnerabilities that she had really well I thought. I loved the scenes where we seen her become like power hungry and want the sort of fame/glory but she was so madly in love I felt for her character more than what I thought I would have.

I wanna see it again but I enjoyed it. Jared Letos character kinda felt like a bit of a piss take mind like his character really felt a bit parody like (was the real Paolo really like that I need to have a look at videos from the archives of the actual Paolo but he’s the only person in the movie who I thought there’s no way they’d have actually went on like that) some of the lines he said gave strong Gino cooking on this morning vibes kept expecting him to call his grandmother a bicycle but all in all I enjoyed it and I didn’t really mind the length as the film didn’t drag for me and I do wanna see it again.

Spends a second week at #1 here in The Netherlands. The actual numbers are low, but with the new restrictions and very little viewings at the moment, it makes sense.
