Spice girls did have some damn bops thinking of it. It's too bad there was soo muuuch filler in between those bops

Pure Shores, Pure Shores, then I had to pick Independent Woman or Survivor and had a meltdown :’) IW just edges it for me though!

Sugababes were seen as the cooler and more credible alternative to GA hence why they shifted more albums. I'm pretty sure back then the acts who shifted loads of albums were critically praised and appealed to different generations which applied to the Sugababes until 2007/2008.

I think it was more public perception towards how the Sugababes were marketed re: their coolness/credibility, more so than it coming from what the critics had to say - certainly in terms of the albums. Critics were generally more positive towards Girls Aloud albums than Sugababes', certainly from 2005 onward!

I think the tide started to turn for the Sugababes with the Amelle line up, but About You Now was so undeniably brilliant that it extended their commercial appeal, ensuring that the Change album was successful (even though some of the reviews for it were tepid).

About You Know is actually one of my favourite songs by them.

It's up there with Hole In The Head

Round round and Too lose in you as well ugh. Such tunes
“About You Now” and “undeniably brilliant” used in the same sentence though x
Yeah a lot were just hating because they changed so much and they "preferred" the other one
About You Now was an anomaly in post Mutya Sugababes. It still didn’t sound very them but it was excellent and always takes me back to starting unis. Pre Amelle Sugababes were consistently good.

Unpopular opinion alert but About You Now bores me. Much preferred Denial, and even Change, from that era.

Essential Suga tunes for me are Push the Button, Stronger, Caught In A Moment, Hole In The Head, Red Dress and Easy. :gaycat:

I did like Denial but found Change REALLY boring. And then after that era that just got tacky af when at the same time GA were coming into their own after being pretty tacky to start with.
