Just came across this and Emma mentions at the Brits 1997 in February that they had already started recording their second album, and have a 'few different tunes'

So they had started to work on the album earlier than what has been assumed. The movie filming didn't start till like May, so maybe the 'full album recorded during the movie' might be a bit exhagrated lol

But yes it was the first single to not have a bside, which then became the norm for them as all subsequent singles (bar Goodbye!) lacked one as well. Their insistance on live tracks was cute as they wanted to prove they could sing and were a live act. But they should have just done a live album as planned and include more b-sided anyway.

It was so strange that Stop didn't go to #1 as it was everywhere, the choreography is iconic and the song is one of the better known from the 90s!... The press really lapped it up as well that this was confirmation that they were over...

A mistep though that rightly was then proven to be bullshit with the success of Viva Forever, Goodbye and Holler all going in at #1!

I do think a bigger crime is Holler not managing yet to get to Platinum... now THAT is a serious injustice!

I didnt know a live album was planned back then, huge pitty it didnt go ahead as it would have done well for them and likely to have given them another number 1 album. I still think she should have released a live album after the last tour, another missed opportunity.

It was such a idiotic decision to not release that live album and Never Give Up on The Good Times...... They would have been on a new high!

Imagine having a brand new live album of the Spice World Stadium tour at Wembley for Christmas 1998! It would have sold so well...
