At the time i didnt overly enjoy seeing Dannii having more success as Kylie was in her Impossible princess period. All i wanna do was doing really well then but i was still enjoying Kylies stuff more and i still do prefer impossible princess to Girl but both are very different. Dannii doing better than Kylie looking back put me off danniis material, i was in an all bout kylie phase back then.

It was utter ridiculousness, i was def clouded by some of the stories in the press, but i have often said i never warmed to dannii at all until she joined x factor, i loved who do you love now and bought it on cd single and also liked i begin to wonder but didnt buy neon nights, once she joined x factor and i got to like her i gave her music more time and looked into it properly.

X Factor did help see Dannii differently and I believe it was a time where many got to know and like her.

I often read people saying Dannii came across cold on tv prior to x factor, and when she first joined x factor she did seem a bit off but as she settled in the fun and warm side of her came out. Even if Dannii didnt want to perform on the show, it was def a time when an album like Girl should have got re released as her profile was high and it might have got some attention.

Dannii had pressure initially on the show as the knives were out, comments such as who is she to judge talent etc were a plenty.

It was a big bold move for Dannii and she silenced many of her critics.

Her feedback was constructive to all contestants and not just those under her wing and she showcased the great support she could bring to the show.

For the dannii fans here, how many copies of Girl do you have and on what formats have you the album, if the re release ever happened for the vinyl do you think there would be a demand for a new cassette at the same time?

I think some of the fans would enjoy and appreciate a new package from Dannii.

I would have an interest in vinyl as it's a format I like.

Girl was an album Dannii needed an enthusiastic marketing team who supported the album and pushed promotion boundaries to get the album noticed.

Much of Dannii's work was done on a low budget that went into the making of the album and little was left to promote it.

Girl was the biggest stellar when the three albums were released in 2007 .

It could repeat Neon Nights sales, that said I think I read that there was more demand for Neon Nights and it would have returned to the charts if more were available.

They could learn from this if they did release Girl.

I really think ‘Girl’ could do well - it’s a highly regarded album and it’s like Kylie’s Impossible Princess that everyone wants released on vinyl, if they done a coloured and standard vinyl release of this like they done with NN I’m sure it could return to the Top 100 which would be amazing considering it only spent 1 week in charts originally.

If they take that approach and issue enough it will return the album to the charts like it deserves.

 

IIRC, the Girl reissue did appear in the midweeks when it was first released in 2007 and that was in November, so a vinyl reissue at a low sales point would likely end up in the top 100.

Dannii got everyone excited when she gave away signed ‘Girl’ cassettes via her Instagram last year.

 

She actually responded to me on Instagram too when I commented that needed ‘Girl’ on vinyl and she said hopefully soon. She mentioned she’s recording an updated version of AIWD so I think there is definitely something being planned.

That sounds very promising that it could see a release this year.

Summer would be a good time to release this.
