April 29, 20205 yr Author JF7H0-Pcbms 01. Hold Tight With a dream team behind it, including Diplo and MNEK, Madonna's Hold Tight features on her 13th album 'Rebel Heart'. The song has military-style drums, electronic beats and a pulsating keyboard adding to its atmospheric sound. The song leaked in early form with several other tracks from the album. It later was later sent to Italian radio as the third single from the album and it made minor chart splashes elsewhere in Europe. It has a strong message of love conquering tough times, fitting with one of the key themes of the album. What are your thoughts on this empowering anthem from 2015?
April 30, 20205 yr I really believed this track had involvement from Ryan Tedder but apparently not. This was some kind of single in Italy apparently however with no push / video. I would have made this a single it is the type of record that would be played on radio and suit M demographic. Living For Love Ghosttown Joan Of Arc Hold Tight Would have been my campaign . The song was clearly rehearsed and then cut from the rebel heart tour sadly as we see it being used in the rehearsal clips.
April 30, 20205 yr Author I really love this song. It's a definite album highlight and i'm gutted it was never performed on the tour. Lyrically and production wise, it's a certain highlight of the album!
May 3, 20205 yr I always thought this was a bit filler but it's grown a lot since the Ultimate Rate last year. The tribal production matches the empowering message of the song and it all comes together as an uplifting piece. It is on the generic side but it's a good album track.
May 7, 20205 yr Author kMT7MrskynU 02. Masterpiece In Masterpiece, taken from MDNA, Madonna sings of her adoration for a lover. She compares the lover to the greats of the past, hung up in a museum as a rare and priceless work of art. Initially included for the soundtrack of the 2011 film W.E., it was later part of the 12th album's tracklist. Released as a promotional single, it went on to win the Best Original Song category at the 69th Golden Globe Awards. What are your thoughts on this song from 2011? Masterpiece or not?
May 10, 20205 yr Author This is easily one of the best on MDNA! Some choice lyrics aside, I think it's a nice breather on an otherwise high-octane album. For that reason it stands out a lot, for the better!
May 13, 20205 yr One of the stronger tracks from MDNA, for sure. It's a shame the tracking list is such a mess because this does have a place on the album. I feel like they could have done more to push it as a proper single, perhaps in late 2011 so it was ready to capitalise on the film promo/Golden Globes in January.
May 19, 20205 yr Author kPX0PBaUzmw 03. Faz Gostoso From Madonna's most recent album, Faz Gostoso is a cover of a hit from Portuguese singer Blaya. It features Anitta and remains faithful to the original version's funk style. Madonna felt it was pivotal to pay tribute to her Brazilian fans by singing in Brazilian Portuguese and she had to relearn the language in order to make it more real. Lyrically, it's about engaging in an extramarital affair. What are your thoughts on this song from 2019?
May 20, 20205 yr It’s a fun BOP, unfortunately it’s stopped from being truly great by her vocals. They aren’t the worst on the album, but next to Anitta she just sounds like she’s singing into a tube, in another room.
May 20, 20205 yr Author This did need to become a single given it was the biggest(?) streaming song from the album. It's fierce and punchy, although it did take a few listens to properly hit me.
May 21, 20205 yr I agree and think this was the best song on the entire Madame X album. I think it should have been the first single. Madonna’s vocals suits Latin funk. I really do think it was a missed opportunity. It really did remind me of a classic Madonna hit. Highest stewaming with no promo. My most played song of last year!!!
May 29, 20205 yr It was definitely a mistake not to capitalise on the streaming impact of 'Faz Gostoso'. It has nearly 30m streams, compared to the 3m of all the other album tracks. They literally had to nothing for it to be a streaming hit, so why not send it to radio, at least in the Latin countries if not everywhere. It doesn't matter if there wasn't enough in the budget for a music video, it didn't need one! I genuinely think this would have been a bigger worldwide hit than 'Medellin'. Anyway, as for the song itself, not one of my album highlights but it is a bop and loosens the album up a bit.
June 4, 20205 yr Author 8UjiBDpz1aU 04. Beautiful Killer Taken from the deluxe version of MDNA, Beautiful Killer came from work with co-producer Martin Solveig. It showcases a shared love of movies between the pair, and was inspired by the French film 'Le Samouraï'. Instrumentally, the song is similar to tracks such as 'Papa Don't Preach' (through the use of the strings) and lyrically it is about a lone killer taken from the movie mentioned earlier. Madonna lusts and chases after the deadly villain and admires their prowess, wanting to be hurt by them.. What are your thoughts on this deadly jam from 2012?
June 6, 20205 yr Author I liked this previously, but I can't say it holds up tremendously well for me a few years later. It's one of the better MDNA album tracks but even that doesn't mean much compared to her other eras :P
June 11, 20205 yr I agree it's one of the better MDNA tracks. The strings are great and the overall vibe is quite fun and playful without coming across silly or juvenile like some of the others do.
