that's good, I actually thought she had missed :D

bare in mind she has like 50 album tracks above from those album bombs

I'd prefer ROCKSTAR to get the #1 again since it's actually a pretty good song and is doing so well because of it. Rappers don't have obsessive stans who play songs over and over and multi-buy in order to help the song in the charts and the only reason Rain On Me debuted at #2 is because of curiosity and the fact it's two big female artists collaborating - not because it is a particularly interesting song.

The desperation for a hit with all these big name collabs (Bieber/Ariana and now Ariana/GaGa) is so off putting. I can't tell who's more desperate between Scooter Braun or GaGa for #1 singles.

The lack of actual knowledge and understanding in this post is quite embarrassing. Travis Scott, a rapper, has got 2 recent #1s in the US by selling bundles and encouraging multi-buy purchases from his obsessive stans. Stan culture originated in rap music, Gaga transferred the culture to pop music, both are of equal worth and weighting.

The desperation you talk of is also most notable in rap music or R&B music (see Beyoncé's feature on Savage, Nicki appearing everywhere). But when pop stars do it, it is desperate? And if you had any ounce of knowledge on the background of this song, and the deep depression that it was borne out of from the two artists involved who have used the song to channel the pain and wash it away, you'd know it IS desperate: but desperate to recover and mend their minds, not desperate for success.

Music is subjective so your comments on "only listening to it because of curiosity or the names" shows just how small minded your outlook is. How sad.

Pop music will never be low brow, no matter how hard people try to make it.

Ellie Goulding just had two number 1 smashes with River and Times Like These. Jess Glynne is worried.

Pretty poor comparison since Jess Glynne is also on TLT and hasnt released anything since last year

Wouldn't it be nice if a female pop song got to #01 though amongst the saturation of all these rapper / rnb artists (some of which o enjoy)

This just seems incredibly negative for no reason, i for one actually enjoy the song and I'm more than happy to admit when my fave hasn't released a good song (I wasn't massive on Shallow and 7 Rings for instance).

I swear I wanted to write this long message and I didn't have a power. You're brilliant, and if course right. I wanna give you a big hug from far.

In terms of pop females Gaga is one of the rare few who hasn’t released that many collaborations.

Rihanna, Ariana etc have had way more than what Gaga has. That’s no way shading them it’s just observing something. I stan both of them but they are collab queens in the pop world.

It just so happens Gagas collabs what have had single pushes are all smashes. Just Dance, Telephone, Shallow (even DWUW despite the feature). This looks set to do the same. But she ain’t desperate rap artists in general seem

To be the ones who rant on Twitter at their chart positions like the sex offender a few days ago and Nicki when she blamed Kylie Jenner lol.

What was this about Nicki blaming Kylie Jenner?

Gaga/Ariana was an intriguing collaboration that I was really looking for.

has Travis Scott or Drake released any song that isn't a collaboration? :D

How did KSI manage to get album tracks into the Thursday update? Pretty certain his album was released at midnight going into Friday...

Wow at how massive of an album bomb he has managed to get anyway. I don't like his music much but there is something respectable about how he has somehow managed to transition into being taken seriously as a musician in the mainstream to this extent, pretty much unprecedented among 'YouTube artists' unless I'm forgetting someone obvious. Also ngl it'd be kind of funny if he managed to somehow deny The 1975 a #1 album (not going to happen as they'll have much higher physical sales but still).

Great debut for Gaga & Ari, looks very safe to say they'll at least be getting a #2 debut now, I'll hold out hope for a #1 but that will be difficult. If only they'd released the song a couple of weeks earlier as was rumoured!

Joke may have landed harder if Drake's current big hit wasn't a solo song. x

Well, it was supposed to come out in early April. I think the hype is bigger now.

Several of Drake's hits are solo (In My Feelings, God's Plan, Toosie Slide, Hotline Bling)

Her blaming kylie Jenner and also Stormi and basically everyone for her album missing #1 in America (and the same day she blocked me *.*)

An iconic day <3

I am more interested in that :kink:

actually something I read the other day, not even sure if it's possible

Drake has had something like 125 hits in the US that are collaborations,

either him as lead including a feature or him as featured

ROCKSTAR really is a smash Oh wow, I thought ROM was doing astronomical numbers, not so much. The video is huge so still has a good chance to be #1 by friday.

He has a total of 222 hits so that number is barely over half of his total hits.
