Kylie’s foray into the world of movies doesn’t have its own thread

In the United Kingdom it reached number one in the box office, grossing £1,072,110 in its first week, equivalent to £2,637,390 in 2017.It was the 17th highest-grossing film of 1989 there.

Often an overlooked part of Kylie’s history - the film was a box office success in both the UK and Australia.

The multi artist soundtrack featured Kylie’s ‘Tears On My Pillow’ which became her 4th UK #1 single and spent a month in the Top 3.

A few years ago the film was re-issued and made available on iTunes and streaming services.

Anyone still watch it?! Anyone yet to see it?!

It did play a part is securing that very important Number 1 in the 90s with Tears on My Pillow, her only number 1 for that decade.

I have expected to see the film on tv.

When was it last aired ?

Kylie never references her work with the film either.

People only familiar with Kylie in later years would have no knowledge of its existence.

Going to watch this in a bit - I downloaded it from iTunes about 2 years ago and haven’t watched it since!

I’d love the soundtrack album to be on streaming - I know Kylie only contributed 1 track but would be good for it to be on there as part of Kylie history, I’m guessing it’s due to licensing issues.

I can’t believe for how big Kylie was at the time and the success of the film that the album didn’t make the compilation charts from what I can see and also has never been certified - the iconic Kylie album cover should have helped it shift a few copies seeing as it was peak Kylie mania time.

Kylie should have had at least 2 more songs in the album as it would have attracted sales.

Yes, always random that PWL didn’t push for more songs especially as they released the compilation and Kylie was on the front cover.

It was a mistake not to have pushed more Kylie as her name alone would have attracted sales.

It could have done well with more, any of you here buy the soundtrack?

Yes I bought the tape at the time and now have the UK vinyl and CD too, I also have other slight variations in my collection (Greek Cassette, Dutch CD etc.,) - it didn’t get a huge push internationally so there are not lots of copies to collect.
