That's it at #2 is 1, 2 STEP. The first of numerous Missy Elliott collabs. The song was an absolute SMASH. It was Ciara's 2nd top 3 hit in both the UK AND the US. In the UK it peaked at #3 whilst in the US it peaked at #2 for SEVEN weeks. The song that pipped it to the post all those weeks? Mario's 'Let Me Love You'. I remember buying this on CD single and being OBSESSED with it at the time. Me and my mates used to play it on our phones all the time :lol: It's a great song and it's nice that we can be instructed to dance, without it being in a novelty/silly way! This is a legit great song in it's own right!

The song starts with a stunning orchestral melody, before CiCi spells out her name for us *.* The song is "role reversal" song, in which Ciara has a message for the ladies, that it's their time to take charge. It's ahead of it's time in message and as a song, imo. It'd very easily be a hit now with the right name attached to it. Such a great song and it was only a top 20 hit here in the UK, where it peaked at #16, but charted a couple of weeks prior to it's physical release on downloads alone and it went to peak at #9 in the US! It did become her first top 10 in Sweden though, peaking at #8 in it's second week!

Thanks to everyone who rated! I've absolutely LOVED going through her back catalogue of singles again :wub: She's ridiculously under appreciated and at least 90% of her discography feels timeless and fresh, today!

Decent winner, still in my Top 5 Ciara songs and the song that really cemented my love for her I think.

It's so funny how back in '07 I was never a fan of Like A Boy. Maybe my sister overplayed it too much for me to want to listen to it out of choice, but over time WOW it's just a fantastic song! I truly believe it inspired both the lyrics and the music video of If I Were A Boy. :heart:

Like A Boy is a decent winner. Tbh I would have been happy with any of that top 4 winning . Ciara's discography really is quite underrated is what what I've learned from this rate !
